In 6 its cos the emperor was pushing them harder (using the darkside) to find help him luke and kill him as vader was planing to off the emp and take the empire. Sooner the emp had luke the better.

Cause thats how the Empire was stayign together was through the Emperors dark side manipultation. Once he died, the Empire went into full retreat until Thrawn showed up. Then he dies. Then the Emperor Reborn shows up. Takes a Force Storm to kill him. From there...lets just say the Empire doesnt do very well.
