Probs with LAN games of RA2

Recommended Posts

Beforehand with previous games in the C&C series...you cud play a LAN game using each CD from the same box.

I am trying to do that same with Red Alert 2, but seem to be having a few problems.

Im running Athlon 700,s on both PCs, WIn2k on one, WinXp on the other.

They are accessing the internet thro a ADSL router, but have lan connection thro the router.

Basically, the game runs ok on both machine, but when u go to the lobby for the network game, I cant see the other PC user in the lobby.

Any ideas?

Also, make the sure the software firewall on the WinXP machine is disabled. This can prevent connections for Red Alert 2.

Is the IPX protocol installed on both computers?

If IPX isnt installed, you can even get into the lobby.

I'm supposing you meant can't, but the truth is you can, but you won't see each other.

For the IPX you should probably set it to use the frame rate Ethernet II (2) and make sure that the IPX network address is the same for both PCs.
