My brother's comp

Recommended Posts

I have another problem at the moment, my DVD drive problem is enough and then this problem came. My brother, who is 5 years old somehow broke his comp, the monitor only show blank image with some text on the center of it.

It says just like other GTC monitor when there is no data received from VGA, it says no signal thinggies.

My brother comp spec is Sys350, with VIA onboard vga, 128 mb SDRAM, and 1,3 ghz processor.

I expect the problem is located in the VGA, but since the VGA is one with the motheroard, I don't know how to fix. And since I can't even access dos or bios I can't do anything with this. Any help is appreciated. This comp is kinda young, it's only 4 moths old. And sicne I'm the one who buy this, I'm the one who is responsible for this. If I can't fix this, yay, may granpha will surely angry to me :(

What is the exact text? Is it the standard "No Signal Received" text on the screen? Or is it asking for something more specific such as a fault or instructions?

I've had alot of experience with all sorts of text appearing on the screen pree boot-up. I might know what it could be...

Check the monitor cable, is it plugged all the way in? Inspect the cable and plug for any damage, look for bent pins in the connector, take note that VGA connectors have one missing pin.

Test with another working monitor. Could also be possibly related to the PSU of the computer.

When in doubt, Google is your friend: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=n...earch&meta=

Off topic but.....

I know kids are really clued up these days but why does a 5 year old need a computer?

Yup, that's the text

I have tried this comp in my monitor, but it shows the same message. So I believe the problem is not located in the cable or the monitor. There is no bent pins in the connector, and it works fine in my monitor. This is the worst problem I've ever seen, can't access the system with blank monitor. ANd I don't know what to do with the motherboard, is it broken? and if it is, how can I fix the problem.

If the the source of the problem is the vga, this will pretty messed up, I got to find another motherboard, but I have some use of my money for other things at the moment.

My little brother is curently living in my granpha's house. He asked my granpha for a comp after seeing my counsin playing San Andreas. And I myself surprised that my grandpha bought him a computer, he is just too young to have one. And the result, in just months the computer had some problems already :(

OH I KNOW!

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM

i turned on computer and also got "no signal" even though the pc was on, no flickering of loading, and no response.

its not a hardware problem, its a software problem. u;ve got a screwed up file somewhere. I got mines fixed by going to a computer repair store. they hooked it up to a machine and ran the parts seperately, and restored the computer to last save point.

the thing is i make regular save points, and the last one happened righ after a defrag, but i couldnt even turn it on. they got it on, restored it and everything is fine. if your bro didnt, u;ll have to reboot.the problem is you cant even reboot cause the pc is unresponsive. mines wouldnt even read any discs, just black nothing screen.

this problem cannot be solved conventionally. go to a computerstore and repair it there. you wont have to buy any new parts thought, the monitor is not the problem
