RA2 choppy performance

Recommended Posts

my game slows to a snails pace during large explosions, missiles being detonated etc. pretty much anything that involves the game's special effects.

my specs:

Athlon XP 3000+

Geforce 6600 (256MB)

512MB RAM

Windows XP Home

nvidia display drivers 78.01

I've tried messing about with various CD/DVD drive combinations and compatability mode but it seems pretty much unaffected (with the disk in my DVD drive the cutscenes skip also, but sticking it in my external CDRW seems to fix this). background programs (i.e. antivirus software) are all off whilst playing.

ideas?

Weird, it should be running real fast in your comp, might be that RA2 can't handle such graphic card.

Hmm looking at your comp

IT SO MUCH BETTER THAN MINE!

and i still have no problem with RA2:YR

Maybe it is your CD Drive sucks

Try download a No-CD Patch

Its ok download a No-CD Patch if u have the Original

Mine that

i ran it without the CD (i made an ISO of the CD and mounted it in Daemon Tools) and it works perfectly fine, but still slows down at explosions and effects. movies and cutscenes all play perfectly.

it just seems that the fps is dropping down to about 5-10 for a couple seconds when it really shouldn't be :P

I found a topic with a similar problem:

strange.
