Well... Bye C&C

Recommended Posts

Guest Rabbit

Well, I'm not leaving you all forever, or even completely.

Basically, I am getting tired of having problems with my C&C programs on an pathetic computer I'm running, and I am just uninstalling everything until I get a new computer.

I'll still visit the forums, but I might not post as much...

Nice talking to y'all.

If your having problems with games and stuff running simply back up your important data, format the hard drive and reinstall Windows.

Start with a fresh install does wonders for your PC ;)

Bye... Btw, fresh install is good, it worked for me, my PC was infested with spyware, trojans, and malawares, and my PC bugged down... But I bought a new PC, which was better... So, maybe if you have the dough, you'd rather nuy a new PC, like what Louis EX said, which was a good suggestion...

Well, I'll take all your advice into consideration.

1. About "bad sites" Hell no.

2. Fresh install. How exactly do I do it? Cause I did fresh install once by taking the comp disk and clearing everything, and that's when I started having problems :x

3. Meh, I decided to stay on the forums at least, so I shouldn't say bye.

Yeah, I haven't even installed a C&C game since my OS crashed. That was about 3 months ago. And I haven't been on WOL since, like a year.

Its very simple. Back your personal and importants files to CD or DVD if possible, or some other removeable media.

Download all the latest drivers for your hardware like video card, sound, motherboard etc.... Save them all to CD/DVD.

Then read here http://www.cyberwalker.net/columns/aug02/010802.html

Search Google for more help in this area.

Alot of people make the common mistake of formatting/reinstalling and not updating the motherboard's chipset drivers. If Windows never gets these drivers for the system motherboard it will struggle all the time.

Or you could....

Tweak #6: Repair Corrupt Files.

Some times in XP files get corrupt, the good thing is it is easy to fix.

Now go

Start < run and type sfc /scannow (note the space between the sfc and /)

It will ask you for you installation CD so have it ready. This will gives you a blue bar it can tack some time to finish (any where up to an hour) when it gose reboot. It fixes any files that have become corrupt.

Go

Start < run and type chkdsk /r /x (again note the spaces)

This many ask you if you what to do it in your next boot, answer yes. Wanning this may take some time to finish, about 1 minute per gigbyte. This will fix all hard drive errors.

You should not use you computer while you do either of these.

Hope you find this tweak useful, please do not post comments in this thread.

Well, this helped me, and its alot faster than reinstalling Windows. Though reinstall does help alot!
