Guest KiDD Posted November 19, 2003 To disable the profanity filter, simply delete langdata.dat from your generals folder. This works online too!!! Share this post Link to post
KyleBrogan 0 Posted November 20, 2003 Hooray! Now you can swear online! Wow, doesn't that automatically make you feel all mature? I can say the f-word! I call someone an "SOB" without retribution! Oh wow! Geez. Swearing is the most unnecessary acts in human nature, used by simple-minded idiots who don't posess the brainpower to come up with something of quality to say. They throw creativity in insults out the window, and resort to something that is as low as it sounds: crudity. So you want to swear, fine. But at least I can keep my profanity filter on, so that I don't have to read junk typing from weak-brained future grafitti artists. - Sparticus Share this post Link to post
Koen 2 Posted November 20, 2003 Or perhaps it only works on your PC (the words aren't filtered anymore when you see them, but for others they still are?) Share this post Link to post
KyleBrogan 0 Posted November 20, 2003 Deleting the profanity filter only allows you to see swear words. (It doesn't matter who types them.) Anyone with the filter enabled will be unaffected by your change. Which is a good safeguard, in my opinion. - Spartie Share this post Link to post
Sonic 295 Posted November 21, 2003 If I'm going online I don't want to see foul language so I would leave it as s, plus I'm not interested in changing or removing the games files. If its installed with Generals that where it stays until I decide to un-install Generals. Speaking of profanity filters, we have one for these forums that can't be deleted  Share this post Link to post
Guest KiDD Posted November 21, 2003 Are you kidding me!?!?! The censor blocks words that shouldn't be blocked, like god. Most of the blocked words aren't even bad at all. You can keep your filter on, I don't care, but it is nice to see what people are REALLY saying!! And yes, only poeple who delete or rename the profanity filter file can see those gray colored words. Guest Melshimber Posted November 23, 2003 I am sad but I thought working around the filter to be quite fun. I wont list them here but my friends play at using insults without getting words blocked - to loser is the first to get a *****. Nice little entry to blowing the seven hells out of each other! Guest Gameproman27 Posted November 23, 2003 would deleting that file cause you to mismatch online? Share this post Link to post
Guest Commander Posted November 25, 2003 I prefer to keep langdata.dat still there and there really is no point in swearing or flaming other people try to be nice and rather help the other players rather than making enemies. Just some good advice. Share this post Link to post
