Renguard Compatibility with The First Decade

Recommended Posts

If anyone has noticed, Renguard will not work with The First Decade. However, I did some digging around the Renegade Forums and found this:

Thanks for letting us know of this issue. In the meantime I have attached a zipfile that you can use to manually install RG.

To manually install Renguard

----------------------------

1. First make sure that your Renegade is updated to version 1.037

2. Rename game.exe to game2.exe

3. Rename scripts.dll to scripts2.dll

4. Unzip the Renguard.zip into your Renegade directory.

The files in the zip are:

game.exe

scripts.dll

renguard.dll

bhs.dll

* Attachment: RenGuard.zip

(Size: 826.11KB, Downloaded 28 time(s))

This is the URL

Also, if you want to take the extra time, reinstall Renegade, but take the "" out of the end of Renegade's path name

Hope that helps someone

IIRC, the incompatability comes with altered registry keys and a modified crc32.exe file that come with TFD.
Actually, the Renguard installer couldn't find the new path because of the new after the game's name:

C:Program FilesEA GamesCommand and Conquer: The First DecadeCommand and Conquer RenegadeRenegade

So, you have to manually install like he suggests

Or you could just fix the install pad even BEFORE you install....

Yes, but I didn't know that until after I installed TFD and tried to install Renguard....you have to uninstall and then reinstall the entire pack to change the directories

u fools.....renguard works fine. its not the tm trick.....when u isntall renguard it gets the default path wrong.

Renguard thinks the path is:

C:Program FilesEA GamesCommand & Conquer The First DecadeCommand & Conquer Renegade

the real path is:

C:Program FilesEA GamesCommand & Conquer The First DecadeCommand & Conquer RenegadeRenegade

u dont need to install manually, just add the extra word and it isntalls fine. when i removed my renegade, then installed TFD. then i installed reguard....i got the "cannot find renegade installed". then i noticed the path line error. i added the extra word and it installed fine

Pwned :P lol

Forget that..just chose the file path C:Program FilesEA GamesCommand and Conquer the First DecadeCommand and Conquer RenegadeRenegade when you install Renguard, and it does fine  my bad about the earlier (longer) way I suggested

btw, here's the official solution to it from the Renguard forums: http://www.renegadeforums.com/index.php?t=...art=0&rid=0
