RKCoon 0 Posted March 3, 2006 As a side note, i dont think i worded it clear enough --- i meant it to say that the CIA WAS the organizatioln that trained many of todays terrorists, during the cold war confrontation. Problem is, after Russia fell, the ameriancs wouldnt leave well enough alone, and now htyehave to counter what once was thier own damned crew abroad. that isnt in question, as much as the current administration HATES that, theyve admitted it. Bware, you seem to be confuse my bluntness as anti american, a common failing ive seen in many right wingers these days. the whole sub issue, ias i said, was mute; my point is the US is anything from perfect. sure theyve done lots to benifit mankind, itd be silly to argue that -- but to deny its blunders is to beg to repeat them. You speak as though USA is the only country out there trying to help -- i gotta news flash for ya. as of what three days ago, some 2000+ CVanadian solders went to Afghanistan, to clean up the disaster that was left of it, between its own corrruptnes, the nice lil earthquake they had --- and thebomb craters so thoughtfully delivered by the US in thier lust to track down one of thier errant trained hitmen. This isnt because the US asked us to go --- its because the UN, something Canada has been a proud supporter of since the start, asked us to go. Or, how bout we talk about the amount of aid weve been sending to the African continent? a mess totally unrelated to us, and were down there, trying to help them out, trying to give them a chance. were not bombing them out of eistance first cause we dont agree with them -- we do our work peacefully. I mean hell, ya wanna bitch about all the ****that hppans to the US --- why not pause a moment and ask, why is it that nothing happens to thier northern neighbors? Why is it the Canadian flag is FAR more respected than that of the US? i sure as hell aint seen anyone -- on ANY news network -- burning the candian flag as of late - in fact i dotn ever recall seeing that , ourside of our own country. andif you really wanna get funky over it, le last full scale attack on Canadian soil was -- guess who -- The americans. (to which, btw, i see theyve rebuilt the white house. looks pretty nice. ) ANYwho, weve gotyten wayyy the hell off the original topic. it was just an idle curiousity thing tis all. Personally, from what ive seen, one A10 will take the punishment thatd knock near a half dozen F14, 15, 18s out of the air. in an all out battle thats worth a bit no? Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted March 3, 2006 / In general Yes, but F-14s and F-18s are highly prefered for carrier work, seeing as how they fly faster than I can walk to the target, and they have fold up wings, as well as being hte masters of the sea. Any harrier pilot will tell you that he rules the Sea, but put him in a simulator against an F-18 or an F-14, and the sub-mach 1 harrier will get pwned. The A-10 is a ground attack aircraft, designed for ground useage and launchage. Besides, theres no point to putting them on carriers when you have cruise missiles and F-35C's that can do the damage anywho. Speaking of carrier planes, the MiG29 Fulcrum can launch off of Russian carriers without a catapult. When it is fully loaded, it can fly straight up on one engine Now thats power. RKCoon 0 Posted March 4, 2006 Heres a question then -- Pound for pound, what plane delivers the most carnage to a ground target, for a close ground support role? my bet would be the A10. (if you want the most carnage, i would imagine the B52 has EVERYthing beat - as far as aircraft go ) Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted March 4, 2006 The B-1B can match the B-52's payload. The biggest diff is the B-52 can carry cruise missiles and fire them from the air, the B-1B cant. However the B-1B is a swing winged Mach1+ bomber, so I'd take it anyday over the B-52 Share this post Link to post
F15pilotX 4 Posted March 4, 2006 I would rather have the XB-70 Valkyrie: Stats Length : 189 ft Height : 30 ft Wingspan : 105 ft Max. Weight(fueled) : 500,000 lb Max. Speed : Mach 3.08 Max. Height : 74,000 ft Now that is awsome And it looks good too: Here's the rest of its history: http://www.labiker.org/xb70.html Share this post Link to post
Alphabear 11 Posted March 4, 2006 Our Airforce is modifing our P3 Orions so they can cary and fire cruse missiles. Theyve also just been modified so they can be used in an Air to Air role (dont ask me why this just seems strange, actually i do know why and it does make some slight sence) Share this post Link to post

Guest MadBadger Posted March 4, 2006 answer to Pilots Q Yer they slap rockets onto B-52s to enabe them to take off from shorter runways. They do it with the C-130s alot. Share this post Link to post
F15pilotX 4 Posted March 5, 2006 Eh, I don't think I asked about it, but yeah, ur right, and they also did it on early jet airplanes  Share this post Link to post
