How can I change team names?

Recommended Posts

Hi there, I`m new at mod-making, so I ask you for some help. :)

I have Red Alert 2: Yuri`s Revenge and have downloaded XCC Mixer. Now, everything I want to do is to change the team names in the game, I mean the names of the countries I can play with. Unfortunately, I don't know how to do that, it's too complicated for me.

I would be very grateful if somebody tell me how to do that - which files do I need to change and how.

Sorry if there is already such a topic, I looked for it but haven`t find any.

Extract the CSF file, open it with the XCC Mixer's string editor, find the countries and change the existing name into what you want. That'll change the names in-game but you'll have to modify the loading screens yourself.

Eeeerm... :(

Thanks for the post, but I'm afraid I didn't understand what exacly I have to do...

Well, I've got following programs: XCC MIX Editor, XCC AV Player, XCC Mixer and XCC TMP Editor. I opened a file in my Red Alert 2 folder called language.mix. It contains some files and the last of them is ra2.csf (it's the only .csf file I've found). I extracted it to a separate folder and tried to open it with the XCC-programs, but I couldn't. What should I do now? :?

Extract the CSF file

Is this file 'ra2.csf' in 'languages.mix' the one you talked about?

open it with the XCC Mixer's string editor

I didn't manage to open ra2.csf with XCC MIX Editor or with XCC Mixer, because these programs work only with .mix files.

Big thanks, I've done it! :)

I also made a new flag and load screen, but how can I put my images into the .mix file in order to replace the originals with the new ones?

I extracted local.mix, where the flags of the counries are stored and tried to replace one of them and insert a flad that I've made (with the same name and in the same format), but XCC MIX Editor always fails to save these changes, so as a result the flag remains the old one in the game...

Use an expand mix. Never edit the default files. Expand mixes take priority over stock files.
Excuse my ignorance, but what is an expand mix?
