Maybe I'm ignorant, maybe I suck, but...

Alright, I abolutely hate money maps. No imaginations, nothing but cash everywhere. It lets the player turtle in his base, and just send out air force. Most often, I end up playing against a China guy who just sends out tons of migs, so I build tons of AA (Rockets, Hummers, Patriots), coupled with plenty of Raptors to mix it up. Then he just builds a whole bunch of Overlords, half with turrets, half with Prop. Tower. Even the biggest force I mustered couldn't hold off the dual barrage. (And we decided against supers, so that wasn't an option.)

 

I tried sending in units earlier, but he took them apart as fast as I could bulid them. Though I was proud of the use of rocket soldiers to take out fifteen Overs in a row. That was cool. In any case, I just was wondering if someone could give me a hand on how to combat against a MiG rush and also to prevent and/or combat against massive Overlords. Any help would be appreciated.

I have never played Generals (...yet!) But I think it would be gathering as much as you can muster, don't send it to him. Hold it at your base. Remember that the advantage of defending is: You can use your Base defenses to fend of his attack, he can't use them to attack. So build up a platoon of long range forces. In front of that some Mid-range forces, and in front of that a line of your toughest units to keep 'em busy. (Never keep infantry at line 1, always behind that, it'll prevent them from being squashed.

 

Oh, and always keep a quick strike team aside for quick strikes in the flank!

Well you cant mass gatt cannoins because he can Mig them easilly. All you could do is mass auroras and suicide mission his base!

i would build some defences by your base and some defences a bit further out if you get me. So when the migs are on their way. The defences not close to your base will shoot some migs down first and then the rest of ure defences at base will get the rest.

If you want to attack try and keep ure ground forces. I havnt played Generals in awhile but keep ure tanks etc back unless AA and build commanches or Raptors to guard :)

When the overlord attack comes the first line of defence should take some out if they all target the same one and you have alot and then move ure tanks to the front.

Use your paratropers behind or on the flank of his base and use you helicopters to drop off a few tanks, Looks like he's so busy attacking your base and once your troops get insid his base are he'll have to stop and defend. Plus use your path finders and col burton, with their stealth abalities, he would not detect them until it was to late.

In my history with fighting a chinese opponent you have to hit them hard within the first few minutes and keep doing it. Ofcourse im USA and first strikes are easy. But, if they do get rolling, the best defence is a strong offense. I've got one word to help you with the mig problem. Paladins. Learn 'em love 'em and use 'em. Having enough will pacify any Mig attack.

 

Mix the paladins up with a lot of hum vees loaded with rocket guys. and give the humvees TOWs to take down a few migs. and ofcourse get a few raptors if you feel the need. This should be enough to thwart any chinese attack.

I actually don't run into the MiG problem anymore. I use the Air Force General a lot, and so the Chinese air is officially neutralized. (A single combat Chinook can take out two MiGs with Napalm upgrade, provided it's full of Missle Launchers. Laser defense rules.

 

My only real problem now is defending against two specific units, and two buildings. I've been rushed by the GLA Toxin tunnel a number of times, and it truly pisses me off. As soon as I get a good amount of personnel around, he's got a tunnel network in range of my base. Infantry can't do anything against it, and he ducks and hides as I try to take him out any other way. Any help against this rush would be nice, using the Air Force Abilities, of course.

 

Also, the Gatling Turret, Gatling Tank, and GLA AA Truck are really giving me hard times. There's no real defense as the Air Force general against them, as far as I know. I just wish you could get a dang tank, even just a weakened one. Oh well. Maybe I'll just have to give the Laser General a try or something.

 

Well, that's just my little gripe, for no reasons whatsoever. Any help would be welcomed.

Well, against the turrets, the Stealth Fighters do tons of damage. But I'd have to agree that the USA is seriously underpowered now.

i find a good tactic to use with the air force general is to build anout 5 or more particle cannons, as once you take out their workers, and the buildings which produce the units which they created buildings with (such as the con. dozer) and take out most of their power, their AA strucs are useless. allowing ure commanches to go in, also, if u have a large fleet of commanche's they defend themselves well enough.

yes but that only works when superweapons arent limited... which never happens when i am playing...

 

Air Force general is only good against GLA because the only unit hey have to stop it is the AA Guns which is nothing compared to USA and China...

 

Air Force gen against GLA should be easy take out stingers and AAtanks and you are set with you choppers!? piece of cake...

 

Lazer general is a bit dodgy with GLA though especially when you cant move your power plants, as soon as a scud or a hole appears you are doomed becuase the first thing they will attack is power and then you are up ****s creek with out a paddle...

ive got a new tactic as the Air force general, once you set up your base, and need a good attack force, i like to build at least 3 combat chinooks, and as the hold 8 infantry, put 2 or 3 path finders in each, and fill them up with the rocket men, if you arent at level 3, use the normal infantry until you get the pathfinder. They are good against infantry, tanks and even base defences

Bro, you're a bit behind on the Air Force General. I've been using that tactic since about the time that the game came out. I usually use two Rangers to six Rockets until I get the Pathfinders, and then I switch one of them to Pathfinders and one to Flashbang. That way I can take them all against pretty much anything.

 

However, no matter how you slice it, Quad-Cannons, Gattling Cannons, and Gattling Tanks rip the Combat Chinook down like nothing.
