Is It Time For A Real Life "GDI"?

With the current climate of the world, our forces as allied nations are bearing down on every dangerous nation and becoming spread thin. And now the threat of North Korea playing with their new toys, is only going to exacerbate the situation further.

 

The UN are peacekeepers and NATO was formed in part to protect the free world from the Former Soviet Union. But things have changed, and these organisations uses are not what the world is looking for in terms of fighting global probelms with terrorism and mad dictators. And nations such as the US and the UK should not be the only ones allowed to go it alone in the name of freedom!

 

So is it therefore time for the UN to say enough is enough and form a real life Global Defense Initiative, funded by all the countries that have an ounce of sense. Compile it with some of the best troops, the best weapons, and the best Generals on the face of the planet.

 

The allied nations of this world need to stop being independant military forces arguing that war is not the answer. They need to start understanding that as a free world, we are more under the threat of attack than ever. We need to join together and form a singular superpower capable of acting anywhere in the world where needed in the name of protection and peace. If every nation gave funding on this maybe then we'll be able to combat our threats better.

 

What do you guys think about it? Or has C&C just gone too much to my head over the last 11 years?

Interesting idea, but I wonder how they would deal with a third of the world that starving to death and how the world would face the fact that the world balance of power would completely shift.

that wouldnt be thier problem they'd be created to fight terror not to feed people thats up to the UN

I firmly believe in having an international force that is called upon to deal with problems such as the ones that have arisen in recent years. The problem we have found in many conflicts is twofold. First that the threat within a country, with the exception of situations such as Iraq, can really only be solved by the forces in that country. This is due to international law and even if a country does not have the forces capeable of dealing with the situation national pride demands that they deal with it. The other is by problems such as Iraq being solved by America and her allies it looks very much like Imperialism lashing out at those who do not obey. With a multinational force working in the interests of the international community however this problem can largely be sidestepped, but people will still believe that the world is ganging up on places such as North Korea or Saudi Arabia.

an interesting idea King...however, I see three things wrong with it:

 

• The world doesn't seem to be in that big of a crisis; one or two countries are taking care of most of the problems singlehandedly

[*]How many countries would join? With the UN already there, why would they join an international MILITARY organization effectively against Muslims?

[*]To go with the above point, how would the Muslims respond to this

 

I'm not trying to say that all Muslims are terrorists, but it could be very well seen by Muslims as that if the rest of the world joins together effectively against mostly Muslim terrorists

True. People portraying Muslims as terrorists or Islam as terrorism does not help. They are no better or worse than anyone else at evil, the problem lies in how all the Middle Eastern terrorists who have for years and years sought to destroy the West through the drug trade and preach hatred passed off as Islam, they are all coming out of the woodwork. September 11 was really the rallying call for Islamic terrorism.

GDi... Hmmm.. If the whole ****ing world says the Islamic people, "Stop blowing our **** up, its wrong" then they will. But right now the big influence is the U.K. and the U.S. so they think they're right, but if the whole world says "No, we're right, ggkkthxbai" then they might see the terrorist for what they really are, liars.

 

The North Korea thing... Aurrgh, what would a GDI do? Hmm? Attack them? Then they would send nuclear warheads to every country in GDI... I don't see how it would work.
