This relates to what we already know

 

The Spyware/Adware issue is now just a security concern thrown up by a mixture of rumours and false understanding. While we've discussed this issue already, and EA have assured us what this is about, most of the world has just discovered it, and are crapping themselves because they are not sure what it's all about.

 

They're forgetting the word "anonymous". It's the same thing which web-browsers have been using for years using cookies, which collects data to determine who you are and allows sites to connect you straight away.

 

Unfortunately, this is the future. It looks like the beginning of what we se in Minority report with Bots scanning retinas for direct custom advertising. But why people should be worried is understandable, but they just haven't got all the facts.

 

If the gaming industry can make their games cheaper through this, then I'm all for it. If it's just shameless advertising raked in by companies for their benefit. Or if they're expecting me to pop down to the store just to buy a Pepsi cos I've just seen it on a billboard in a game, they've got it all wrong. There has to be a benefit for the consumer here.

There isn't any. It's to make money, which, as a corporation, EA is trying to accomplish. Simply deal with this as yet another tracker that means nothing to anyone but ad companies. So long as it does not interfere with anything I have, it's fine by me. Not that intended to get 2142 but that's another matter.

As long as I can play my game, I'm fine. They're a business. Their goal is to make money. If this makes money, then it's good for them.
