Monitor Upgrade Time - Philips 190S7FB

Recommended Posts

I thought it was a good time to jump on LCD monitor bandwagon. So after spending the last 2 weeks researching (due to not understanding a few things about them) I've ordered and paid for the Philips 190S7FB 19" LCD Monitor.

The only thing that concerns me is the Dead Pixel Policy. According to this page http://www.ascent.co.nz/ProductSpecificati...x?ItemID=346813 this LCD monitor "May have some pixel defects". It seems all the currently available LCD's from Philips have the same policy.

Can these pixel defects be seen easily?

If it's 1 or two random pixels, I highly doubt it  Of course, the LCD on the family pc at my house is fine anyway, so I'm not positive about it

I still don't have my new monitor. Ordered and payed for it on the 26/10, got the e-mail saying it has been shipped to my address the following day, you have to allow 1-2 working days for delivery. Its now on the fourth working day and nothing has shown up.

The place I ordered from, Ascent Technology, can't even get the courier track and trace details

So I have no idea where it is or when it will show up, if it at all.

If it doesn't arrive today I will be canceling the damn thing and sourcing an LCD monitor from somewhere else.

$500 damn dollars and almost a week for delivery, total bull****

I don't really like Ascent, they always seem to be slightly more expensive than other places...

But it looks like a nice monitor Sonic.

It really depends where it is, but a dead pixel in the middle of the screen is unbelievably annoying. I had a pixel die on my screen, well it didn't die it got stuck, but it seemed to fix it self.

You pay a bit more with Ascent because the courier charges are worked into the price even though they say free shipping. I've always made most of PC related purchases with Ascent and never had any problems. In the current case with my LCD it was not Ascent's fault, it was the stupid courier company.

Anyway, I finally got my new LCD delivered today, using right now in fact. Trying to get used it etc...

I got one dead pixel. At first I was really bitchy bout it but I've learned to live with it and it blends in with most websites and games.

Thats why I ain't buying a monitor online next time, most of them in the store I go to you can turn it on first and see then buy it.

Very true. All you guys with over sized sig images, on my old monitor and resolution they used to take up plenty of space, but not anymore :P
