Battlefield 2 startup problem

I got the Battlefield 2 Deluxe Edition disk. I installed it all (All five CD's, might I add), but it won't start. I click the icon, the screen flashes black, and nothing happens. Is there a specific disk I should have in the computer to make it start correctly, or is it another underlying problem?

yeah i got that pack too. Its the first disk you need the one that has installer disk on it.

Crap. That must mean I need to put in this new video card then.

 

Lucky me. Just happened to get a NVidia 7900 from the summit, which I will be explaining in full detail this weekend.

 

But, yeah, I tried with the installer disk, and it didn't work.

Little tip before you put that thing in... What's the power wattage of your power unit?

 

For a 7900 You'll need a minimum of a 400w power unt. Anything less and you'll be putting strain on the card, and the computer as a whole.

 

I tried to stick my 6600GT I got from last years community summit in my machine, with my crappy 250w power unit, and almost set the PC on fire. It was just lucky that the system decided to crash from the overheat. Cos another 5 minutes everything, including my residence could have been toast!

 

And in relation to your problem. I dunno if it's possible on the deluxe version, but you may have to uninstall the Special Forces component of the game. There's an underlying problem with the expansion where the game will not play on most machines. A problem that DICE never touched, and EA's support of it is now lacking.

 

I can't get special forces to run on my machine. It messed up Battlefield 2. Therefore the only option was to uninstall and just use the standard Battlefield 2.

 

Not having the expansion isn't much of a loss, since the standard game is classic stuff anyway.
