Gap Gen Question

I feel stupid for asking this but what is the gap gens deploy mode function? When I use it all I notice is a HUGE surge in my power useage (The game I was playing when I found this, I had about half of the Arctic Circle map covered with them if that makes a diffrence). BTW I have only ever really played skirmish mode no online or Lan so i can't/ havent tested it that way.

It doesn't do anything since the SuperGapGenRadius is the same as the normal one. All it does is eat 1000 power.

The AI will just sit back and produce units as normal or it will send a attack group to your last known postion. If they send a squad it seems like they can "see" your hidden units from their last known spot. The enemy will not attack until your unit attacks first. Which means your units will decloak and while they are doing that, the enemy strikes first.
