C&C 3 in Germany Will Be Censored

Recommended Posts

According this report from Games Radar the German version of Command & Conquer 3 will be modified to so it complies with the very strict German rating laws.

Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars has been toned down for the German audience, Electronic Arts revealed to us this morning.

To abide with the ultra-strict ratings laws, the Nod suicide bombers, erm, won't actually commit suicide. Instead the bomb-strapped Fanatic unit will apparently drop off his package and then scuttle off to safety, leaving the battlefield clear of limbs and nasty terrorist entrails. But that's ok.

C&C3's developers at EA assure us that the German censoring will have no affect on inter-version balancing and that the Fanatic switch is "purely an animation change."

A similar changed was made when C&C Generals was released. The GLA Terrorists were changed in to flaming exploding barrels on wheels. Want to see what these exploding barrels looked like? Click here. More of the news item from Games Radar is available here.

German pussies. They used to be so violent, now they're worse than the ****ing French! Pfff. I'd hate to live in Germany.

I hope they don't give a German version at the launch event tomorrow, then.

Actually, I hope they give me a copy. I don't actually know if they will.

Damn! Those Terrorist Barrels are very funny! They look like RC Cars with fuel tanks... Ahem. Anyway, as usual, Germany is too conservative and, well, freaked by very little things. Hey, at least it's not us!

Well they have their unwarranted reasons for being afraid of kids who play video games.....

I suppose as long as it gets released, I mean Germany censors the games sure, but what about places like China that dont even allow Generals or RA2 in (legally) ?

You all say its silly but that's the law.... in Germany anyway.

As as EA have said, its just an animation change, it won't effect the balance or how the game plays.

Thats precisely why Germany has those laws, they dont want their kids thinking that kind of thing is "cool" in games. Their point is valid, but.....well
