Emperor for TibEd 1

Hi, its me again, ive been messing around with TibEd 1 periodically and i am getting annoyed that half my changes to Emperor are not working, such as adding buildings and units to the tech trees for skirmish and swaping out sounds for gunfire and movement sounds of tanks, if you can help that would be great thanks!

 

P.S. For the longest time i have stared at that register button for TibEd, and for the longest time i have been poor, now i have money, so tell me, if i register it and get an unlock code...what do i get out of it?

Unfortunately, the Emperor editor is not very functional. The files from that game have a slightly different format. TibEd 1 will work for simple changes, but on the advanced things something goes wrong. All I remember from years ago, when I made it, is that I hit a limit in the TibEd engine, which was not fixable. I'm afraid you will have to switch to a text editor if you want to make more extensive mods for Emperor.

I even edited the game by text, and i still cant get most of my changes to work, is there a way you can like patch the editor or something? maybe giving it a new format so that it runs more proper?

Aha, I think that might be it. While you could make certain changes in the text files, the game would not always pick them up. It was fairly random what did and didn't work (there probably is a pattern), so probable that the text files are edited properly, but that the game itself is having issues with the changes. Did you start with a text file from scratch (e.g. started with one without changes)? If that is the case, then you will be out of luck...

I have tried all the possible solutions, the game just hates me, or TibEd hates me, IDK, but it just NEEDS to be looked at or fixed, such simple changes shouldnt have any trouble getting through the games thick skull if you know what i mean?

I really do not know if the problem was TibEd (making 'incorect' changes) or the game (not picking up changes). Given the interest in Emperor over the years and that I never made it past mission 6, investing time in tracking this down is not something I feel like. If I do track it down, it is very likely that I will find that it cannot be fixed...

Hey Koen, I just bought a copy of TibEd 1 and i have a question reguarding the Emperor editor. You said that the editor had some problems with the game. Can TibEd create new sides and units for Emperor?

TibEd 1 and Emperor... my primary reason to stop working on that editor was that the game would become unstable in a 'random' fashion. You can edit A, and it works. You can edit B independently, and it works. But if you edit A and B, the game would suddenly do weird things.

New sides: I'm certain this was not implemented (this requires a lot of support from the game itself)

New units: cloning units might work, but I do not remember if there were any quirks or not.

No try to clone or make new units, you cant set them to be built by the designated building you selected, it just wont pop up on your construction tab.
