Space is devoid of matter so temperature has no medium through which it can transfer. It's an empty region that's not really 'empty.'

i didn't say there was substance in space. read my posts.

 

though, i mentioned that there is a steady stream of all of the types of radiation constantly flowing through space. that radiation counts as matter no? maybe sub-atomic particles but particles none-the-less. also, what about dark matter?

Radiation is free flowing afaik. It doesn't need a particle medium to travel. It's not hindered by a vacuum like sound is.

 

Also, dark matter sounds like a lot of scientific hocus pocus. It sounds a lot like a bull**** way to explain something without actually knowing if its true or not.

technically radiation is still matter...my point was space isn't completely empty..

 

but my point earlier was that the giant whole may be the result of a super massive black whole that stopped feeding

Matter can be traveled through but radiation can't be used as a median (or is it medium?) so how is matter?

Electromagnetic Radiation needs no medium to pass through. Energy in space is either created by Black Holes/Collapsing stars or nuclear fusion in stars. Energy (in the form of radiation) is sent out infinitely into space, until it is reflected off something and/or absorbed and changed into another form of energy, such as heat. Matter is anything that has mass and volume. Electromagnetic Radiation is not made of particles, and it is not made of matter. Energy waves are waves, matter is a medium in which waves pass.
