Sonic 296 Posted October 31, 2007 A short blog update, because I don't post enough of them around here. But let me break away from C&C for this blog and shine some light on Valve's clever Portal game. If you purchased the recently released Orange Box from Valve you get this highly addictive puzzle FPS game. It not some silly bonus that has been thrown in the pack because there was some space left on the DVD, it's probably the crown jewel in an extremely good value pack of games. Portal arguably provides more replay value than Half-Life 2 Episode 2. It starts out so simple and progresses to puzzles that make you think very differently in order to solve them. The entire concept of Portal is so simple but becomes a rather complex puzzle solving masterpiece..... well in my book it does. Get the Orange Box, it's damn good value. Or you can just purchase Portal off Steam for $20 US dollars. Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted November 4, 2007 Yep, it was really worth it. Probably one of the best games I've played in a long time. The cake... is a lie. Share this post Link to post
JahSpoR 0 Posted November 4, 2007 I have to choose between Portal and Hellgate: London. panic Share this post Link to post
GeneralZ 0 Posted November 6, 2007 dont just get portal. get orange box. its a much better deal. while portal is fun, its TEAM FORTRESS 2 THAT IS AWESOME. I've been playing it all week damn fun game. Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted December 4, 2007 Yeah Portal looks like a truely innovative game, and I would've bought it already except for issues I've had with ep1 on my comp. It's been a torturous experience... and the worst in my extensive gaming history. Crashes, failing to load etc. Funnily enough, original HL2 ran like a dream!!! anyway the whole pack looks great, and I still have that synth soundbyte "now you're thinking with portals" running through my head constantly! JahSpoR 0 Posted December 4, 2007 Portal looks fun too,. The new Team Fortress looks even worse than "The Ship" game, for steam if you know that.. Share this post Link to post
Overcow 0 Posted December 4, 2007 TF2 looks ****ing awsome! I reallllllllllllly love that style! Share this post Link to post

If you did, you wouldn't be talking **** about it. (Look zee Xfire, if I was not obsessed with it, it wouldn't have those hours. ) Share this post Link to post
Louis EX 0 Posted December 22, 2007 TF2 is awesome man, sure beats the hell out of CSS and Halo 3. And yeah don't just get Portal, the whole Orange Box is epic win. Share this post Link to post
Azrael 0 Posted December 27, 2007 You... Halo 3 is THE ULTIMATE FPS! Ahem. Technically speaking. Multiplay-wise, TF2 can pwn Halo 3. In anything else, Halo 3 rules. As for the Orange Box, well, it's an excellent value. I love it. I've always been a Half-Life fan, even of it's spin-offs (i.e. Blue Shift, CS, etc.), and the Orange Box certainly makes an excellent addition to my collection. Portal is, in my opinion, a "thinking man's FPS". Share this post Link to post
Louis EX 0 Posted December 27, 2007 Yep...gotta love Valve..I can't imagine life without Half-Life...which means no Counter-Strike or Team Fortress. Share this post Link to post
Azrael 0 Posted December 27, 2007 But singleplayer wise, I prefer Halo... Especially the Master Chief. You gotta admit, he's way cooler than Gordon Freeman. Share this post Link to post
Louis EX 0 Posted December 27, 2007 If Gordon Freeman would have been able to speak in the game, I think he would be way cooler. Damn you made me wanna play HL1 and HL2 again.. Share this post Link to post
Azrael 0 Posted December 27, 2007 Rightfully so. And play Halo and Halo 2 (if you have Vista) while you're at it. Share this post Link to post

Inferno 22 Posted December 30, 2007 Why do new(er) games have to be so expensive? Half the price and I buy 'em. But €50+, just too much. Share this post Link to post
Guest Spartan-117² Posted December 30, 2007 € whats that mean? pounds? pesos? yen? etc? Share this post Link to post
Inferno 22 Posted December 31, 2007 Well, if you live in Great-Britain it's worse. The stuff's in pounds there, and pounds are even worth more. Share this post Link to post
