Sonic 296 Posted November 7, 2007 And another one bites the dust, just quoting legendary rock band Queen to start of this EA news update. GameSpot reports that EA Chicago, best known for its work on the Def Jam and Fight Night franchises, has been closed. This closure follows the shutting down of the EA Chertsey studio in the UK recently...... Last week, Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello announced in a quarterly earnings conference call that the publisher would be weathering a round of layoffs and studio closures. At the time, the only operation confirmed for closure was the EA Chertsey studio in the UK. Today, GameSpot has obtained an internal EA memo stating that EA Chicago is also being closed. EA Chicago is best known for its work on the Def Jam and Fight Night franchises. It had been working on a new licensed Marvel fighting game, as well as a second fighting game based on a new intellectual property. The Fight Night series has already been moved to an EA Sports studio, and an EA representative said that announcements would be made regarding EA Chicago's other projects in the future. While this doesn't affect Command & Conquer or our friends at EALA at all, its interesting news and shows you how unkind the gaming industry can be. Read more at GameSpot. Sonic 296 Posted November 7, 2007 Collectively EA are the biggest game company on the planet but no matter how big they are it still costs money to run each studio. Share this post Link to post
hagren 0 Posted November 7, 2007 It isnt like they made little money, its just that they expected more, with the shareholders anticipating a better result too. Share this post Link to post
JahSpoR 0 Posted November 8, 2007 hmm.. EA should close some more, and put down the prices on their games. 400 kr for Hellgate is too much.. Other new games costs 300 to 350 max.. Share this post Link to post
