Guest ScepterXT Posted February 19, 2004 Ok, i have been fighting with this for a while now, EA is clueless and im even more lost.. First, I am running a P3 800 with 384mb ram, i have a Radeon 9600 SE card. When the game starts the first two intro's load, then the little game skit loads, as soon as i click and the menu comes down, my mouse locks, the sound locks, and then the only way out is by reseting.. Anybody else have this problem. I did get it to work at one time, but i dont know why it just stopped.. I tried every catalyst driver out there, and nothing works.. Im using DX9... So, im lost... Any suggestions? Share this post Link to post
chickendippers 1 Posted February 19, 2004 Do you have the latest sound drivers, and do you have a firewall or virusscan running in the background? If you do you might want to try deactivating one or both of them, or added Generals to the "safe list". Share this post Link to post
Guest Delme Posted March 11, 2004 I've got a very similar problem. When playing the General Campaigns (I'm playing as Gen Axelander) and you have to fight General Townes. About two thirds of the way through the level, (so you are basically in his base wiping out what you want) the game totally freezes. Usually there is a lot of fighting going on. The sound seems to continue but with random background noise and the screen just sits, frozen. The only thing that moves is the cursor that doesn't change icon as you whiz it round the screen. Eventually after about 5 minutes or so of intermittent hard drive action, the game continues for roughly 2 or 3 seconds, then freezes again. I've read in the official C&C forum of people experiencing exactly the same problem at two thirds into the level. They have Radion gfx card, where as I used to have a Geforce2 MX but have (yesterday) because of THIS problem purchased a Geforce4 5200FX 128Mb and still the same problem. Before people start suggesting things to try I'll tell you what I system I'm running and what I've tried. CPU AMD 1600+ RAM 640MB GFX GEFORCE 5200FX 128MB 5.31 GB FREE HARDDRIVE AC97 Soundcard onboard WINDOWS XP Norton Antivirus and Firewall (disabled) DIRECT X 8.1 BOTH SOUND AND VIDEO LATEST DRIVERS Right to what I've tried..Bare with me, it'll bore you 1. Lowered the hardware acceleration 2. Upgraded graphic card to 128MB 3. Uninstalled ZH and reinstalled 4. Restarted the mission and it froze at virtually exactly the same point 5. Disabled all cursor and advanced drawing simulations 6. Waited a hell of a long time for the game to continue 7. Applied official ZH 1.02 patch 8. Joined this forum (which I'm glad I've found) Personally I don't think I've played a mission before where rain was on the screen, maybe it's something to do with that? I've run out of ideas and things to try, so I'm either going to have to quit or go completely mad. Unless someone knows the answer? I will try anything, apart from playing naked with a big fat hairy man sitting on my lap  Share this post Link to post
Thierry 0 Posted March 12, 2004 Well, maybe it has something to do with your drivers or your CD. I had a problem with my CD once and figured that out since a friend of mine installed his game and that did work fine and mine didn't. Maybe its that. Maybe should do a reinstall. If you want the CD to fix your ZH without losing anything else, you have to remove the ZH.exe only. Then you will get the repair stuff. (manaully if you have to) Share this post Link to post
