Louis EX 0 Posted January 2, 2008 You have got to be kidding me. In my years in surfing the internet, I've never seen "SP3" before EVER in the internets. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted January 2, 2008 You have got to be kidding me. In my years in surfing the internet, I've never seen "SP3" before EVER in the internets. Outside of Windows 2000, neither have I. Share this post Link to post
Inferno 22 Posted January 2, 2008 With SP2, windows just kept b****ing until you dl'ed it. But now not even an announcement? Strange. Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted January 2, 2008 According this page http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en SP3 for Win XP was published on 30th March 2004? Am I reading that correctly? A lot of the updates in SP3 have probably come through on Windows Update anyway. I recall Microsoft announcing SP3 for XP when they announced SP1 for Vista, but don't they usually make a big deal when new service packs are available? Right on the top: "Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3)" Office XP isn't the same as OS XP. And yes... they made a pretty good shout out when you could download the RC of SP3 for XP. That was I think 2-3 weeks ago. Gah, never guys? I feel like I'm enlightened now, since I've known about SP3 for months. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 295 Posted January 2, 2008 Well slap me silly, I can honestly say I never notice it saying Office XP SP3 at the the top  Share this post Link to post

Guest Rabbit Posted January 3, 2008 Well, normally your computer automatically updates to newer service packs, but I guess it doesn't do that for Service Pack 2, considering it's such a minor change to the computer. Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted January 4, 2008 Well, normally your computer automatically updates to newer service packs, but I guess it doesn't do that for Service Pack 2, considering it's such a minor change to the computer. SP2 is a major update, but MS makes it optional for whatever reason. But they try to push it on you like a drug dealer pushes crack on you. SP2 is a very major and recommended update. Windows ain't anywhere near the most secure OS, but SP2 does a pretty damn good job at making it... slightly more secure. Normally your computer doesn't... And the fact is, all the XP shipped (I think they ship with SP2 now anyways) with SP1, but you didn't HAVE to install it. It was and still is highly recommended that you do. But there's only been one SP so far for XP, donno where you get service packs from. SP3 isn't out yet. Share this post Link to post
Guest Rabbit Posted January 4, 2008 Then what is the download on their site? Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted January 4, 2008 Then what is the download on their site? SP3 for OFFICE XP. Not XP, the whole OS. Share this post Link to post
Guest Rabbit Posted January 4, 2008 Oh. Haha. Well then. I feel dumb. Especially after you had to clear it up for Sonic too. Share this post Link to post
Azrael 0 Posted January 4, 2008 My XP wasn't ****ed up. I switched to Vista due to Halo 2... I could have run it on XP, but the process was (and still is) illegal and highly complex... Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted January 4, 2008 It's not really complex and the tactics used by Microsoft are considered illegal by some countries, but hey, who's stopping them? Share this post Link to post
