Yeah just a question.

 

If I was to get a Notebook comp from the States and then bring it back to Kiwi land. Apart from the power voltage cord stuff would it run software and stuff here in NZ? :?:

Nope, software will work on any computer no matter where it's bought from.

It's only Consoles and DVD Players that you have to worry about.

Yep you can run software from anywhere in the work on a PC from anywhere in the world. If you couldn't then my copies of RA2/Yuri/Renegade/Generals would have never worked since they came from the USA. Now that would suck :lol:

Do be careful about the warranty though. My friend found out the hard way - the laptop he bought in the States had an 'international' warranty. They wouldn't honour it over here though, so caveat emptor.

Cabal (of CnCWorld) found out the hard way that console games from the States don't work here when Westwood sent him Pirates of the Caribbean on PS2 and it didn't work - how silly of them :roll:

That would be the PAL/NTSC thing.

The Consoles are like DVD's - they're region-locked. For the GameCube, you have the Freeloader which can let you use them from other regions, but XBOX/PS2 need modding.

For PS2. Just go buy an AR card. Most come with the whole change your PS2 dvd zone thingey.

 

Is it just the US that has NTSC type PS2s? Cause I know Europe use the PAL system.

Yes. USA/Canada use the NTSC system, Europe, New Zealand, Australia use PAL. When your dealing with TVs and Video recorders most modern ones have the ability to play/display both PAL and NTSC. My TV has a mode switch while my video recorder auto-detects the TV display system when the tape is inserted.
