New Blitzkrieg 2 Videos Posted

Recommended Posts

If you like huge explosions you should head over to the Blitzkrieg 2 site and check out the two new videos they have posted of the endgame weapons, the Grand Slam earthquake bomb and the oddly named Fat Man nuke. As mentioned they are endgame weapons so they were clearly designed with total destruction in mind.

If you want to jump straight to videos, use the links below.

Nice! Finally a realistic sized nuke!

But the tanks are destroyed before the "wave" as you see in "Nuke 2/2"

Also the plane in Grand Slam is flying extremely slow (plane length in 2 sec.. that's damn slow)

The cloud should be bigger, but that would probably cause epic lag... :?

wow... an epic nuke!

The Grand Slam was a truely monster bomb. The principal was developed by Barnes Wallace, the genius inventor behind the dambuster raid. The idea was to use a massive bomb to create a mini earthquake, making use of the fact that an explosive shockwave travels much more efficiently through the ground than through the air. Together with the smaller Tall Boys they were used to destroy the reinforced concreete submarine pens along the french coast, ruin train lines, bridges and viaducts, and also to destroy the underground V3 cannon. Their ability to penetrate reinforced concrete means that they can be called one of the first true Bunker Busters.

The Grand Slam is an endgame weapon, and while it's not a patch on the nuke, it is capable of destroying anything it is dropped on, even a command center...

At only 10k its a heck of a lot cheaper than a nuke too, but make sure to protect the Lancaster carrying the bomb!

One of the things that "is" complete is the Nuke. The way it is purchased has been redone, and it's effect has been redone too.

Rather than purchase the nuke building via the science menu, it is avalible at the third tech level.

The main difference is cost. The building itself is about 65k

You then need to "research" a series of technologies. At the moment the tree looks like this:

Atomic Theory,

Breeder Reactor,

Uranium Enrichment,

Bomb Designs,

Super Long Range Bomber,

Trinity Test,

Each one costs 65k and will take around 5 minutes to complete.

So almost half a mil in the hole you can start purchasing nukes. This is the second major change. Once the Manhatten Project is complete, you can construct as many bombs as you like. However each one costs (yeah you guessed it) 65k.

Given it is so expensive, and costs so much, it will be something for multiplayer only... or as Smurf suggests, games against your whiny kid brother

The main problem with the old nuke was that, despite having really neat code, it wasn't very visually impressive... So this time I added some cool blast waves that radiate out from the blast point. As you can see from this chart, a nuke's damage radius extends far beyond the fireball so this blast wave, representing the excessive winds a nuke generates, is what does the primary damage.

wow... epic cost!

I guess the slowness of the delivery, and therefore it's vulnerability coupled with 500,000 cost truely make this an epic finale to the battle!

These explosions are worthy of APOC-level hype!!!

Note Jah$por, the explanation of the ground vibration hitting before the cloud above...
