Planned Changes for the Forums

After a lot of thinking I've finally decided what will happen with these forums.

 

1) We will be switching to an IP.Board, If you haven't seen one take at http://www.petroglyphgames.com/forums/ or http://forums.revora.net/.

 

2) An IP.Board has everything a modern forum needs included with it. RSS support, better user tools, better admin/mod tools. A better overall user experience.

 

3) When will this happen? Not sure at this stage, either next month or March. There is a cost involved so it could be longer.

 

4) The benefits of changing to IPB are good for us as forum staff and regular forum members should appreciate the change. The change won't be 100% smooth, we may not have CNCNZ.com themed "skin" for a while, plus there will probably be a few days without any access to the current forums or possibly some data loss.

Like I said we will be without a "CNCNZ.com skin" for awhile but getting the official site colours in place will be one of my top priorities.

 

All of your posts, post count and data will be retained and moved to the new forums. Its basically rebuilding the ship around the crew

Well the Ranks were converted but they are not working so I'll have to redo them I guess.

 

Fast Reply is enabled for all forums, Its a per user setting. If you don't see it go to My Controls >> Board Settings >> Posting Settings >> then under Open Fast Reply automatically when available? select Yes.

If your avatar was uploaded via the old forums (as in hosted on forums.cncnz.com) it was not converted, the conversion didn't copy the files. If you avatar was off site (as in linking to one host on ImageShack or wherever) it would be available here. If its missing fo to My Controls >> Personal Profile >> Posting Settings >> Edit Avatar Settings.

The way phpBB stored uploaded avatars varies from IPB2 and it usually doesn't take during a conversion. I had the same issue with I went from IPB1 to vB3.
