Sonic 296 Posted January 30, 2008 Tiberium certainly is dominating the new coverage right now, anyone remember that Kane's Wrath game? Anyway, here is a round up of the Tiberium previews that have appeared at various other gaming sites recently. IGN - Tiberium First Look Ricardo Vega is no slouch himself, even without four squads backing him up. In addition to the GD10 he has a few other tricks up his sleeve. A jump pack gives him the ability to reach higher ground inaccessible to many units. In one of the demos shown to us we saw Vega launch up onto a platform and begin issuing commands while raining down rounds as the exposed Scrin frantically scrambled to find new cover. After sustaining a small bit of damage, his suit can recover and regenerate that lost health. He also has a snazzy cover system (ok, maybe Ricardo doesn't as much as the game does). Pulling a page out of Rainbow Six: Vegas' book, you can enter or exit cover on the console versions with the left trigger. GameSpy - Tiberium Preview Our first look at Tiberium in action took place in a refinery, a rare indoor section of the game. Plummer mentioned that the game is still in pre-alpha stages, and they've got at least a year to go. As Vega slid around the environment to get cover from hostile Scrin forces, we noticed that EA LA seems to be going for the full-body awareness thing with the player's character. When Vega quickly moved into cover, we could see his feet extending out for a baseball slide. The framerate took a few hits every now and then, but we'll give it the benefit of a doubt since it's pre-alpha; Plummer even pointed out that the current voice-overs that we heard during the demo are team members' voices being used as placeholders. 1UP - Tiberium Preview Unfortunately, we haven't seen any Tiberium multiplayer yet, though EA tells us that it will allow up to eight players per battle, and that it will feature many of the same elements that comprise the single-player game -- taking tiberium, conquering landing zones, and commanding up to four squads against other players. The multiplayer will also feature weapons that the player can capture and use against their opponents, such as orbital cannons. Tiberium is still a ways out from release, so plenty could change, but we like what we see so far. All these previews cover the same information and offer the same screen shots and gameplay videos, once you have read one preview you have basically read them all. But check them out if you can't get enough game information. Share this post Link to post

Gben 20 Posted February 1, 2008 It's no wonder all the media is interested in this... it is new afterall! Kanes Wrath is pretty wrapped up, just minor details to go. Interesting about MP... that it will be based off the SP... ie no base kill. Obviously the scale of the environments and their respective buildings would make a renegade style base-kill problematic. 8 players seems a little small for FPS, well for human players (I understand the squads concept). 8 x 4 squads of up to 4 units... That will surely have some AI concerns, scripting and responses in a fast paced MP game? (I wonder if someone from APB was accepted in the advertised MP development position could have any influence in actual design towards a more Renegade style MP mode.) Share this post Link to post
hagren 0 Posted February 1, 2008 Well, there are defense towers for Scrin and GDI, perhaps you can actually build some structures, who knows? Share this post Link to post
