Doctor Destiny 41 Posted February 23, 2008 So here's what I have in mind; - Video Card - PSU - and another of the same LCD monitor I have now Before you jump at me and say, OMG GET THE 8800 LOL, I go budget style. I aim for decent power with a lower cost, which is what my entire machine is right now and it's a damn fine piece of equipment but it can be better. Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted February 23, 2008 I have that same kind of Video Card, though mine in 256 instead of 512. It runs everything at usually highish levels with out much problem. But I'm only running everything at 1280 x 1024 though, so yeah. Its a reasonable card, but still better to go for something a bit better though, for extra future proofing. Also, don't forget that your video card is only as good as the memory and proccessor that goes along with it... Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted February 23, 2008 (edited) Think you picked out before I said backwards compatibility with PCI 2.0... But yes, just because the 9600GT is PCI 2.0 doesn't mean it won't work for your motherboard. This PSU Maybe? 600watts, plus the cost makes it a good deal. If you ever want to add more fancy stuff to your rig, wouldn't have to venture out for a new PSU. Just an option to consider. 9600GTs For 30 more bucks, I'd consider them. - Proof of backwards compatibility if you were skeptic Edited February 23, 2008 by TheBlackout Share this post Link to post

I have 2GB of RAM and a decent little dual core. Hasn't failed me yet. Think you picked out before I said backwards compatibility with PCI 2.0... TheBlackOut 7 Posted March 20, 2008 Yep, unless you got an 8800 card, I'd stick with that. No new architecture or major improvements, eh. Share this post Link to post
