even if i wanted to move out i couldn't. house prices are rediculously overpriced, buying or renting. a 1 bedroom studio costs something like £250 per month c.c that is just insane. a 2 bedroom rental is like, £500 per month... who the heck can afford that? :\

 

A late reply on this one by me. But anyway....

 

£250 a month for a 1 bedroom studio is absolutely dirt cheap... and £500 for a 2 bedroom flat is a very solid going rate! I pay £475 for my 2 bedroom flat, and it's rather large... but consider that to the £650 I was paying for a 1 bedroom... now that's expensive...

 

Nevertheless £250 for a studio... if you wanna move out for certain.. for god's sake grab it!!! You're unlikely to find anything that cheap possibly ever again for a slice of your own independence! I'll be honest with ya... you would stuggle in most corners of Britain to find a single room (on house share) going for that price.... All I can say is welcome to the real world... the prices you've stated are only the tip of the iceberg and you'd normally pay a hell of a lot more....

 

Living isn't cheap when you consider all the bills, insurance, taxes, national insurance etc on top of that... Living with Parents is the easy way way to live... But for god's sake.... £250! I keep mentioning it, but with a full time job and all the bills paid, you'd have a neat amount left over for personal use and a comfortable living on your own... even at the minimum wage. It's not insanity, such a price is a bargin!

 

Failing that... Live life as an Anarchist against capitalist Regimes.... Believe me, I could if I would, but I have Animals to care for and a wife who doesn't have any Activist blood in her body. So I have to work to fund the Government... The Future is Unwritten, live life with Freedom and seek enlightenment without religion or being told what to do by so-called democracy or even other people. There's more to life than what is morally right or wrong.... you yourself have to make that choice and discover your own moral code.

wow that was a lot of text. though i do agree with it o.o might be the cheapest price you're gonna get but it's still insanely expensive. buying a house and paying the morgage each month would be cheaper then the rent xD;

Obviously haven't looked into mortgages have you.... In order to buy a house, you generally have to look at places 3 times you're own annual income... So a family on a joint income of £50,000 a year can look forward to a house at £150,000 maximum for their budget.

 

A house priced at £175,000 therefore over a 15 year fix rate mortgage (which goes out the window very quickly) is going to cost someone £972.22 a month. And that's not incurring the huge rate of interest that they'll have to pay back as well.... So it roughly works out at £1,004.71 a month.... But the markets change and such so you could end up paying even more than that on Variable rate, trackers etc...

 

Not to mention that the average UK house buyer will switch their mortgage no less than 3-5 times throughout the course of paying off their home and take an average extra 10 years to pay it off. As a result they will often incur up to an extra £25,000 - 50,000 in extra payments because of this on top of their original house price. Now if that's cheaper than the £250 rent per month you claim is insanely expensive.. Mina, you seriously need a reality check!

 

Not to mention also that buying a house ties you into a legal contract where if you don't keep up repayments on your home, it can be repossessed along with any/all of it's contents. While renting a place means your money is dead the moment you pay it, at least you don't hold the risk of losing your home, everything in it, then losing your job, calling yourself bankrupt, and being unable to obtain credit because you're blacklisted for Eons... With Renting, the worst thing that can happen by not keeping up payments is that you can be kicked out... so what... you grab your stuff and move on... The most you ever pay out on Renting is when you first move in. All you need is money for a deposit (equal to 1 month's rent) and 1 month's rent in advance.... Look after the place you rent, and you'll get that deposit back.

 

This is the jungle we live in called the real world. Expense is a fact of life and things cost money... learn the reality as a fact you cannot escape, it only gets tougher... And you're gonna have to fly that nest sooner or later!

My place is pretty cheap. It's a 1 bedroom for $650 a month, but I prepaid it with a six month lease. With my income, I'll definitely have some room for spending on fun items, like my airsoft hobby, video games, etc.

okie okie point proven. i was just saying cos our house doesn't have a mortgage anywhere near that high... that's just insanity o.o yet another reason why i wouldn't survive in the real world... i just can't work out things like this. i need someone to look after me... either that or learn the hobo code pretty darn quick >_>; and i'd go insane if i were a hobo. i needs my internet ._. i mean i can live without satellite tv. it would suck but i could survive... but i NEED my internet D=
