Twisted Insurrection - Revamped Civilian & GDI Structures
Alex06 posted a topic in Command & Conquer News

New pictures of the mod have resurfaced, showcasing revamped and new civilian and GDI structures. Also recently, they have released a screenshot of a loading screen that will play (it will be a video) before the start of a mission. Click here to see the rest of the new screenshots. -
Here they are, enjoy.

So, I had this posted on CNCSaga, it was done with another member. I was originally going to wait for the NDA to lift on the 25th so that we may get better quality screenshots and more details, but this should do, I guess, since it was already half-done by a CNCSaga staff member and posted as news. Enjoy! Note that the pictures are links, since one can only include 10 pictures per forum post. (And I wasn't willing to spam this thread) There are some new pictures in here, you might have not seen these yet. I have also given a complete retelling/paraphrasing of the entire PC Canard article (technically, you could say I "translated it"), which you can read by clicking here. - EU Units - Railgun Commando Squad The armor and design (and heaviness) of the weapon indicate this could be the "Railgun Commando" unit. (Which also comes in squads) The muzzle flash, range of the weapon and the trail it leaves in the second picture seem to confirm this. Target Painter I've finally guessed what this is. Why 2 guys, one with a laptop, antennae, and another with a short and stubby weapon that looks heavy and high-tech? Simple, it's a guy communicating with a satellite and a guy with a giant laser pointer that sends data to the targeting computer. I'm guessing it's an orbital or airstrike pointer, that either calls in an orbital strike (Athena Cannon from RA3) or an airstrike (Natasha from RA3). The second hypothesis would be that it is a target painter, but that the laser targets a unit that will then, as a result, take more damage from incoming hits (Guardian Tank from RA3). EU Hero Unit / Commando This is the only infantry of the EU that does not come in groups and that is holding a minigun. It's very obviously the EU's hero unit. EU Dozer SPAA Vehicle At first sight, one can guess this is an AA vehicle due to its radar antennae in-between those 2 rocket pods, which is a feature that primarily only anti-air vehicles have. Seeing as how this vehicle is seen in large quantities in EU vs GLA screens, it can be assumed that it probably serves an anti-armor role, too. - EU Structures - EU Anti-Infantry Turret An anti-infantry turret on 3 legs, most likely for stability and rapid deployment. Repair Pylon This "pylon" is deployed by the EU APC and repairs vehicles around itself. - GLA Units - GLA Worker We can see two workers, one of these is transporting resources towards the supply stash via a cart, while the other one seems to have abandoned his cart to go repair the structure. Could it hint towards the possibility of leaving resource carts on the battlefield and picking them up later on? Militants The angry mob has a different, more civilian look than these infantry, and comes in a pair of more than only 3. So these infantry are most likely the early tier militants, as they do not look like "stealth guerrilla commandos" either, and aren't very much armored at all. Worker / Saboteur While we can see this infantry appears to be bigger (obese) than the worker up there, it still has a hammer that looks just like the worker's in Generals 1, alongside a briefcase, which is typical of engineer units in C&C. However, the fact it looks obese while the other worker unit does not, seem to indicate the possibility this is another unit. Toxin Grenadier From its equipment, it can be deduced this is a toxin infantry, no doubt. However, seeing as how it is firing at vehicles from a distance and no smoke trail is going from the infantry to the vehicle, one can suppose that these units launch some sort of grenades instead. (The weapons even look like grenade launchers) GLA Technical GLA Rocket Buggy Radar Van GLA MBT - GLA Structures - GLA Command Center GLA Barracks The GLA Barracks seems to have a design very much like the Allied Barracks in RA1. GLA Supply Stash Its role is made obvious by the fact we see workers head toward it with resources, and it is placed next to a resource node. GLA Oil Derrick The rust, design and GLA flag, along with the drilling mechanism, make this obvious. GLA Bunker Always seen screenshots with the GLA, and on the GLA's side, it is fair to say this is most likely a GLA structure. Arms Dealer / Toxin Arms Dealer 2 variants of the War Factory, which can specialize in either salvaging or toxins while upgrading to tech up. The toxin silos are noticeable on the 2nd pic. GLA Turret From what can be seen, this turret has some sort of long barrel, which may contain explosive or toxin cartridges (possibly with an upgrade?). Tunnel Network Looks significantly better than the one in Generals 1. Scud Storm - APA Units - APA Infantry These look like the basic infantry. Their legs and torso appear armored, but like light infantry. APA Hero unit This hero unit is apparently male and functions like Tanya from Red Alert. APA Supply Truck The APA will have a supply truck to gather resources. APA MBT The replacement for the Battlemaster, this tank comes with 2 barrels, which may or may not be an upgrade (I'm personally leaning more on the no upgrade situation). This is not the Overlord Tank, despite some similarities. The treads and viewport are different. Gatling Tank Nuke Cannon Not confirmed if it is a Nuke Cannon, but the design of the vehicle is the exact same as the Nuke Cannon from Generals 1. Overlord Tank The Overlord Tank returns, with its famous gatling turret (possibly an upgrade, but it may come with the vehicle directly). There are also grinders at the front, indicating at the possibility that, if not only for purely aesthetic reasons, this vehicle might be able to crush certain vehicles and/or infantry, perhaps even walls or mines. - APA Structures - APA Command Center The APA's Command Center will have the ability to upgrade to Tiers 2 and 3, which will upgrade the Tier level for the player respectively. (Zerg Hatchery / Lair / Hive from StarCraft) APA Power Plant The APA's Power Plant works exactly like the first Generals; Power is a resource provided by each structure and contributes to the overall base power output. APA Supply Center APA War Factory Tactical Nuke Silo The APA has tactical nukes as its superweapon. The missile comes out vertically now instead of lifting up from a "sleep" position.

C&C - Free to Play Single & Multi Player Clarifications from EA_CIRE
Alex06 posted a topic in Command & Conquer News
In reaction to certain questions asked by fans on the official forums after the release of a new screenshot this Monday, EA_CIRE has posted some new information to clarify about what modes of play Command & Conquer - Free to Play will have upon release, specifically about the inclusion of campaign and skirmish modes. Click here for the original post. -
Fellow C&C community members and visitors, Since the jump to the Free-to-Play business model has taken place for Generals 2, many of us have voiced our opinions, concerns and suggestions. However, I've seen many openly dispute the move to F2P for the fear of the following: Not having a Single Player storyline mode/Campaign mode The possible lack of an offline mode The possibility of premium, hardly-affordable for the average and casual player, Pay-to-Win content The possible lack of success of this game we've all been waiting for so long to play, followed by an abandoning of new content creation and perhaps the closing down of the game's servers. While these concerns have all been heard by EA Victory and EA Games, many of you may wonder, with the information we've received, what guarantee there is of the 4th concern not eventually coming to fruition despite EA Victory's best efforts to sustain this game and prevent it from going the way of Age of Empires Online. Thus, I come forth with this suggestion. What if there was a way to stack the odds in C&C - Free to Play's favor? Well, it seems this may be the C&C series' saving grave: A marketplace for player-created content. While I am aware of many's concerns with such an idea when it comes to a C&C game (such as the fact mod-making tools have permitted, in the past, the creation of content that was entirely free and available to all), I find it fairly rational to go this route. Blizzard's StarCraft II and Valve's Team Fortress 2 have gone the way of pushing player-created content to attract and keep a large share of players, be it casual or hardcore (competitive players & long-time fans). Allowing players to create content and sell it would not only push more creativity on the side of players, it would also allow many players to see the advantage in creating new content; rather than have it cut into their time, it would allow these content creators to make a quick buck out of something they enjoy (and likely remain motivated to create more and of better quality) while also allowing EA Victory to take a small cut out of every sold content piece to every player, allowing EA Victory to fund their game and create more content for it (DLCs could be released alongside player-made content in the marketplace, like with TF2 and SCII, some which could be free, some which could cost, those costing money having to be approved by EA). This player-made content would then give EA and DICE a fairly good reason to create and release mapping & modding tools for Frostbite 2, not to mention integrate them with Origin (and thus compete on a higher level with Valve's Steam service). I fully believe this type of feature will allow the C&C franchise to evolve in flourish in the coming decade and compete with games like StarCraft II and Free-to-Play games, seeing as how fully-fledged RTS games like C&C have trouble attracting and keeping a large crowd of players, while other F2P games are easier to get into for many casual players. For those who do not know much or who wish for a second opinion, viewpoint, or a more detailed account from someone who is far more knowledgeable when it comes to the gaming industry, I'm including a video by TotalHalibut/TotalBiscuit, AKA the Cynical Brit, down below. The first 7.5 minutes discuss this subject in a very detailed manner. Additionally, here is a video of how creative and innovative developers (in this case, Gas Powered Games and Chris Taylor) can get with mod tools, and how this could revolutionize modding and mapping for games (I highly recommend watching this video, it's amazing). Scroll down to watch this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuGdQqUhKD4 So, my fellow community, what are your thoughts, comments and suggestions on this matter?
-
So, you may have heard of this, Gas Powered Games is working on a new action-RPG type of game, mixed with MOBA and RTS elements. They also have a very amazing set of tools (Project Mercury) meant for mapping and modding, which will be released with the game, and will be used for future GPG games, RTS included. Suffice to say this set of modding and mapping tools is amazing and on-par with very few other games. (Watch the 8 development videos to be amazed) The project still needs funds and it has almost 2 weeks left for funding to reach the 1.1 mil $ goal on kickstarter. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gaspoweredgames/wildman-an-evolutionary-action-rpg/posts

I assumed you were just seeing patterns where there weren't any, but they do use the minigun sounds from C&C1, so I guess it sounds plausible.

Actually, there will be no pay to win, according to the Community Summit attendees and Eric (EA_CIRE). And thanks for the compliment.

Most extensive and complete unit list for EU and GLA now available
Alex06 posted a topic in C&C Community News
Dear C&C Community, While I was hesitant to publicly release this, several people I have talked to so far seem to approve of it (It has been posted on CNCSaga as approved by Tchutch, the root admin), and while many times before the speculative aspect of my posts have proven controversial, I assure everyone, this is purely based on information that has been publicly released. Anything else is only speculative; Should it ever prove accurate or correct, it is by chance. That being said, having researched, found and accumulated information and images from what EA Victory Games and the fan sites have shared with the public, I can now finally present to you the fruit of my labors during these last 2-3 weeks; This EU and GLA Unit & Structure dossier is the most extensive and complete so far. It takes from every small last picture or tidbit of information that has been revealed to the public's eyes, going as far as things that may have gone unnoticed to most; No corners have been left unturned on this one. Without any further ado, here is the most extensive, complete list that could be made, presenting the Units and Structures of the EU and the GLA from the upcoming C&C game. Click here to download the EU + GLA Unit & Structure list. Alternatively, you can read it here online here (Mediafire) and here (Google Docs). -
