Red Alert 3 Q&A Update #7

Recommended Posts

Another round of Red Alert 3 related questions and answers have been posted on the Official Red Alert 3 Site. As mentioned in the past, these are questions that are submitted by registered users on the Official C&C Forums. You can submit your own questions by posting them in this thread on the Official C&C Forums. Here are a couple from the latest round up.....

Will in game taunting be back in multiplayer games like in Red Alert 2?

The taunting mechanic in Red Alert 2 was fun to use, and we're definitely planning on implementing something similar in RA3.

Will scraps of destroyed units litter the battlefield?

Yes, the husks of units and structures that are destroyed in battle will litter the map... but only for a few seconds. We kept these scraps around for a long time originally, but they simply ended up cluttering the battlefield.

Click here to read the rest. You will also find them and all the previous Red Alert 3 Q&A's mirrored and archived in our own Red Alert 3 forum.

Yeah yes and no, but that just means there is room for new cool units. :)

Like the Soviet bear. ^_^

Well that one they could have done anyway, as long as Al Gore was erased from time to prevent him from starting global warming. :)

I love the taunts being back! I mean they're soo much fun, and you can't have a Soviet army without the Flack trooper. XD

Woot! The taunts were a lot of fun at LAN parties.

Oh ok...

In MP, you could press a keyboard shortcut to send a pre-arranged 'taunt' to your mp opponent or ally.

They were variations of these themes in the accent of the country or faction you chose...

to ally

Taunt 1 F5 "I need Cash"

Taunt 2 F6 "Attacking"

Taunt 3 F7 "HELP ME!"

Taunt 4 F8 "Distract the enemy, I have a plan."

to enemy

Taunt 5 F9 "Surrender to Me!"

Taunt 6 F10 Laugh at opponent

Taunt 7 F11 "That was cheap!"

Taunt 8 F12 "I am Victorious!"

snip from somewhere - which I can't remember now...

"If you want, you can go into your Westwood\RA2\Taunts folder and browse through them all. If you are looking for a specific country's taunts, look for file names which have as their fourth and fifth letters as the first two letters of your country (for example, tauam01.wav would be American Taunt 1, as denoted by the "am". The file tauli04.wav would be Libyan Taunt 4. Get it?)

However, if you don't like one of the taunts, you can replace it with any .wav file! Just make sure to rename your .wav with the name of the taunt you want to replace and put it in the Taunts folder. Now when you play a multiplayer game you will have your very own customized taunts.

Keep in mind that your opponent will not hear your taunt unless he also has modified his folder in the same way you have, but it's still amusing for you. Be creative! One of my keys plays the opening of Cops.

Bad boys bad boys, whatcha gonna do?..."

Surprisingly - I couldn't find a list of commands by each country written out. I'm sure I did myself at one stage - but I've obviously lost it since.
