RA3 Unit Profile - Soviet Twinblade

Recommended Posts

The Official Red Alert 3 Site has been updated with a new unit profile. This new profile features the Soviet Twinblade. Like all the previous unit profiles this one also has a short in game video, concept art and extra information. Here is a sample....

This sturdy, well-armoured mainline combat helicopter features swivel-mounted dual heavy-duty machineguns in addition to four rocket launchers slung under the wings. Further, its three-rotor design (two main rotors with one in the tail) gives this gunship unparalleled stability among similar aircraft. It bears mentioning that the Twinblade's machine guns, which pack more than enough punch to chew through an enemy squad in no time, are ill-suited against armoured vehicles--though, of course, that's what the rockets are for. This is a deliberate trade-off to reduce the mass of the Twinblade, which helps make the gunship remarkably quick, yet muscular enough to transport a Tesla Trooper fire team or even a V4 rocket launcher to and from the front.

It's designated a KA, but looking at it, it was obviously based on the Mil Mi-24 Hind. In fact, I recall EA saying they based the bulbular design of the Soviet vehicles on the Hind's cockpit. And KA stands for Kamov, not Krasna.

Also, the rotor configuration, also present on GDI's Hammerhead, is not that farfetched since it exists IRL.

Sorry to have been a nitpicker.

Not bad, I have to say. They, however need to keep working in the anims, just like other aircraft.

BTW, that tank in the demo was moving its cannon. Will tanks or whatever the TwinBlade carries be able to shoot while being transported?

Background on this unit is top notch - but the best line ever...

The Soviet Union's Twinblade excels in various roles, especially roles involving viciously shooting things that can't shoot back.

I focussed on the tank being transported, which a more extreme variation of the C&C3 scorpin tank with a single barrel on one side... interesting.

Chopper is good even though the tail rotor is not really needed. Didnt like the look of the tank in the movie though

I think all the unit profiles have been well thought out and well written. Makes me wonder why they never did them for Tiberium Wars.

That's the Hammer Tank, the Soviets all purpose tank, similar to the Scorpion yet different.

Because in Tiberium Wars you needed a some what believable reason to explain how things were. :P

Looks more like the Predator to me.

Emphasis being on the turrent on a side not in the middle for scorpian reference, but in terms or raw style I can go with a predator feel.
