We're All Going To Die!

Recommended Posts

y'know we all claim to know a lot of stuff... but then again when this LHC is really switched on full it might throw all of our beliefs into confusion. have we ever made a black hole before? so how do we know it ONLY requires that level of power. there could be tiny black holes out there too... we just haven't explored the universe enough to see them. there could be anything out there. i doubt anything would happen when it's turned on full, but chances are something will go wrong and it'll be fantastically oversized o.o because something ALWAYS goes wrong. there will always be something someone hasn't thought of... let's just hope it's not a REAL MAJOR screwup. if it's something minor we probably won't even hear about it for a decade or two because they'd be so scared of the populous becoming panicked and getting the project shut down o.o

thats what i said that many tiny bh might be created, and Sure we Dont know what we are messing with!

and problems was found the first day of testing in adjusting the magnets in contolling the cerve that the Beem will take...but they Fixed it before anything gone really wrong!

and actuually they where increasing the power and speed in steps slow-fast-faster and more accurate calibration....

still i think 99% nothing catastrophic Will happen.... i keep that 1% just in case! so untill October i will get as much FAN i can with my life :P

xDDD that made me lawl. for a second i thought it was a real webcam feed and i was like "lazy buggers they aren't even working. wait... red light :o could it be a test? ...wait no it's a fake..." XD

i hope somewhere out there, there is a real webcam feed of it :o i'd sit there and watch it all day and watch scientists make all the little mistakes and see them running around to fix it before it makes a bigger problem. and gordon freeman standing in a crucial place just in case, ready to push a button xD

and yah, it's an extremely remote chance that something will go wrong. but chance always favours the long shot. it can go right 10,000,000 times but we'd only notice the one time it went wrong o.o they can't keep something that powerful working right 100% of the time... i still believe there is gonna be some kind of large explosion x3 and half of switzerland gets wiped off the map xD;

Well to get us back on topic, I think this won't prove anything and is a load of bull ;)

I hope sarcasm.

Oh noes, we're being sucked in a black hole! ... not. See what some people can believe, some sientist's even got death messages :/

nothing will probably happen when it's powered up but it doesn't hurt to worry a little. i'd rather know it's coming and do some things i want to do and enjoy myself instead of doing about a tedious normal day and suddenly dying unawares. if nothing happens, no harm done - you had a good week. if it turns out to be the end of the world, you lived it how you wanted to live it o.o; my attitude is stay positive and happy :3

You do know that absolutely nothing wrong will happen... ;)

Nothing *did* happen you mean

And what I meant to say TBO, is that it won't prove anything about the 'moments after the Big Bang' because there was no 'Big Bang'....forgive me if I was unclear :)

That isn't really the only reason and umm, the Big Bang is the most reasonable and logical source of the universe.

Where did the 'ultrahot, superdense' matter which supposedly expanded come from TBO? Did it just appear? :P

And yeah, the experiments' results could be quite interesting sith

So you don't know where it came from....that works :)

I disagree, in its current state of accepted theoretical likelihood, it is actually quite illogical and debatable.

The Big Bang theory has become outdated and really should be rethought out if they actually want people to keep believing it. It is disappointing to see scientists stubbornly cling to such a deficient concept for so long. I'd think that as knowledge of space, energy, and especially atomic structure advances, they need to update their story of origins as well.

then what do you explain as the beginning of the universe? o.o

You say that as though all science points toward the Big Bang theory being the only possible explanation, when it is reverse of that, the Big Bang theory was invented to explain all of science. Since it has not panned out, being a truly ridiculous theory if you happen to know anything about natural laws, it is time they put their heads together to come up with something new with which to try explaining origins.

The Big Bang theory is not new, theories come, change, and go. My point is that the Big Bang has already superseded its lifetime and has outlived its relevance. When a theory no long holds water, you stop supporting it.

Maybe the scientists are hoping the LHC experiments will provide them with substance with which to form a new theory. For the sake of their respectability as scientists, I'd hope so, to keep looking for proof of the Big Bang is a serious waste of time and mentality.

As for a specific answer to your question, that I will not give. I only present opinions based on facts that I can back, my personal beliefs are restricted access to real life relationships only.

Before people start calling you an idiot, let's take it to the other theory of the universe. The Steady State theory. In other words, the belief that the universe has and always will exist. While being disproved with many theoretical flaws therefore, (due to microwave radiation left from the big bang).. how about elaborating on that and heading towards the Quasi Steady state theory (which was another flawed theory developed by the same scientists to patch up the Steady state theory)... I wanna see your take on that. But as it goes, the big bang is the only explainable answer, because every other theory has been rubbished by the great Steven Hawking.

The whole point in this LHC experiment is to find the missing links and to strengthen the big bang theory, possibly on route to making it scientific fact. Sure, humans may be wrong about the universal creation. Maybe Christians are half right and God had a bad weekend out with too many beers a few million billion years ago and puked his guts up into a vacuum. The result being that he ended up drowning and dying in his own vomit. We're just sitting on his large crusty hot gravitational puke... who the hell knows!

I remember watching a science program (maybe NOVA) and they talked about all of that and I especially remember the part about the leftover radiation. That is pretty strong evidence.

Ok that's retarded.

It's more plausible than the Steady State theory. That's a fact :P
