Increased interactivity in C&C

Recommended Posts

As you know, in C&C, the story telling and mission briefing is done through short video clips. It has been like that for ages now. I was thinking that it might be funnier with more interactivity between the missions. In C&C3 there is some sort of interactivity in the GDI campaign. Depending on how you act on the battlefield(liquid tib bomb) you get different FMS afterwards. But that is kind of basic. So the question is, which is the best way to improve on interactivity in C&C games(between missions)?

Lamely, I don't have any good ideas on the subject myself. But I was thinking along the lines of controlling the whole thing between the missions through an EVA interface or something like that. Instead of like in Firestorm were you see the EVA interface through the whole campaign but can't control it you could simply get access to it(think of the PDA in Doom3 were you can access, videos, email and **** through a simple interface, something like that. But it should include maps also). Or something. The same goes for the KW campaign were you are a computer, that is kind of interesting to improve upon. As said before I don't have any ideas so use your creative minds to come up with ideas for increased interactivity! Note that it must be fun with the increased interactivity, because if not it's kind of useless to have it.

Sidenote:

It's lame to censor out the word ****. The whole idea of censoring is lame.

You could have interactive options during the FMVs. So you might be given a choice during the thing to attack A or B or defend C or D. That sort of thing.

The problem I see though is that its more work for EA. At best you'd get some very limited choices, which would be nice, but at the end of the day probably won't be that big of a deal. But its a nice thought.

I'd like it if you could interact more in the FMVs like I said via choosing dialogue when asked. :) It would be nifty.

Also moved.

Ok, I was a bit unsure were to place it.

Well yeah that's always an idea. But it has to be made nicely. Imaginate talking to Kane and he asks you something and you have to answer him and can choose from say three different lines. But, it would ruin the feel if the video is paused while you are choosing your line. So maybe while you are thinking of what to say the video continues(Kane cleaning his desk while waiting for your answer or whatever he does) and if you don't come up with an answer fast enough he will be mad or something and taunt you. Haha

It would be cool to get news from the civilian world and reports from war journalists(depending on how you act on the battlefield will result in good or bad responses from media). Both in video and text format, TV news and paper articles. Not only reports from your actions but also other things going on in the world. Something like that. Sometimes in current C&C games you get to see reports from media, but it could be greatly developed and make the world feel more real.

I do that to my minions...

I lob big heavy empty soup cans while they read me their reports...

Yes, the rumors that there is soup in Shodirkadirka are true, but I can not devulge more.

If I tell you more I may be subjected to killing you, and trust me... I am working on it...

You will surrender to my demands!!!

Not in here, I'd imagine...

i think it would be an awesome idea to have multi-choices o.o but that would be a -hell- of a lot of work o_o like, extreme levels... i mean if you're talking about a different scenario or mission with every answer... and you have at least one or two questions before every mission... just think about how complex that would get @.@ i mean you're talking multiples here. in the very least you're doubling it each time. at max you're quadrupling it... the actors will be thankful because in general they get paid by the work and time they put into each scene... with a zillion live action vids they'd make a lot of money... but it would be a lot of time into the game missions. i mean probably most of the time it would just be simple things like choosing how you approach a mission (do you want to attack from the sea, air invasion or special forces? etc etc) but occassionally you might be asked a larger question like "do you want to invade poland, australia or ireland?" XD and that would result in different missions... it would be utterly amazing if they pulled it off... and there would be so many replay choices o.o; it would probably turn out to be one of the best RTS's ever made for that reason alone... but if they did it using say, the RA2 units and graphics or the tiberium sun units (with either RA2 level graphics or 3D. though 3D might take it down a notch in fun...) then it would be utterly amazing o_o

now if only EA could pull it off... if they managed to make a game that awesome i'm sure everyone would forgive them for all the hundreds of previous screwups xD ...at least until the next one anyway >.>;

Only the SP people would, it would most likely **** off all the MP players. As they would see it simply as M O R E wasted money going to SP when they don't see anything for MP. :/ Eh, you can't please em' all.

It'll get more exposure here as opposed to that forum. Which is why I sent it here. Eh.

i'm sure it would be possible to come up with some unique multiplayer options as well o.o like full-on co-op missions... different game types... apart from the standard "fight and kill" each other you could like, start with a certain number of units and do capture the flag or something =O or like that old online C&C game where you get a single unit and have to fight xD i wanted to play that so bad but when i tried it had shut down D: which is ashame. it looked so freaking fun... then you could have other gameplay modes like survival... where you have a limited number of units and you an your buddies have to survive for as long as possible against swarms and swarms of endless enemies, basically just trying to live for as long as possible xD or the same again but you also have to try and protect a base at the same time o.o i mean there are so many other options then just the standard "build a base and kill your enemy" stuff... i mean any one of those games would be excellent ^-^

but y'know, in the future i'm gonna be going into game making with some friends so something like that could be our second project ^o^

heck if i knew how to code i'd start work on the game right this second... methinks i'd need help making it online though :\
