Just thought I'd pop in here amongst my other endevours to deliver a point concerning this. If Sega's Marketing Machine was just that bit more stronger, RA3 wouldn't get much of a look in at all on the PS3.

Most PS3 gamers who enjoyed Endwar as their first console RTS fix, are buzzing more about Sega's RTS, "Stormrise". The game which is being headed up by the same studio who develops the Total War Series. Indeed the game is not a PS3 exclusive and will be heading to the 360 and PC platforms as well. But the Playstation community really hasn't embraced RA3. Those that have, already have it or do not like the idea of the old "RTS on consoles" concept. Many are indeed looking forward to the new concept which games like Endwar and Stormrise are revolutionising right now.

Like the box art for the PS3 version of RA3.

I can finally try a C&C game on a console.

Wait SEGA do marketing for their products? I fail to understand what SEGA have to do with RA3 on PS3 anyway.

I can actually see RA3 on PS3 being relativity successful because it has the C&C logo on it and EA's marketing will get the word out.

Red Alert 3 will be the first true RTS for the PS3, but that is more in a traditional sense. It's true what you say Saracen in that Red Alert 3 for PS3 is not as innovative or different as StormRise or EndWar, however, it is a much more recognized brand and is using a gameplay console RTS function in the Command Stick 2.0 that has proven very successful in our XBOX 360 version.

So while I don't dispute some of your fine points, I would say Red Alert 3 has a much stronger chance of success than any other "RTS" for PS3 in recent memory or coming soon. I would love to see more about StormRise but if you check the major gaming sites (Gamespot, IGN, 1UP), the buzz on that game has been next to zero. That's likely because they haven't shown anything in a while, so we'll see.

The response to our PS3 announcement has been largely positive by PS3 gamers, no surprise there.

And no surprise that core C&C fanatics, you guys, are subdued in your excitement because you are primarily PC gamers.

I think we can take on Halo Wars =) hehe, even though its PS3

I have to be honest, I've never heard of this StormRise game at all.

I think part of the response is also some surprise that its actually being released for PS3. Considering 6 months ago it looked down and out for the count.

I have no problems in seeing C&C on XBOX 360 or PS3, as long as PC player aren't ignored.

Oh yeah, forgot to post this for anyone who wants it. A really large version of the RA3 PS3 Ultimate Edition logo.

With mice & keyboards being so cheap these days, why don't EALA just code some usb human interface programing into the RA3 PS3/Xbox games?

I never understand why this last step is so difficult?!?

Its probably not difficult but it makes multiplayer an uneven playing field if 1 player is using a controller and the other player is using a mouse/keyboard.

Hmm what I meant was...

With mice being so cheap... why don't EALA code the console games to work with usb mice/keyboards... and just include them (mice & keyboards) with the game (by redemption). eg Mario Kart and the steering wheel! Or Buzz Trivia games with the 4 buzzers, or Singstar with the mike, or WII play with the remote.

They can just say, this game is DESIGNED for play with a mouse and keyboard on the PS3/XBOX with the little icons on the back of the game... MIN REQUIREMENTS!!!

Naa, it serves consolers right for being stupid enough to buy an RTS for a console. ^_^

With a keyboard and mouse, what disadvantages are left?

RTS on console just doesn't make sense to me, it seems like a genre born to be played with keyboard and mouse
