Heading for CommandCOM: What Are Your Big C&C4 Questions?

Recommended Posts

This Thursday I'll be heading off for CommandCOM in Cologne, Germany. I will be wearing my CNCNZ.com T-shirt and taking pictures. However, there will also be an opportunity to ask questions to some of the key developers of C&C4, as they will be attending as well. What big questions do you want me to ask them on your behalf? Post them in the comments of this news item, and I'll try to get them answered for you.

Wow, more like "Ask a Developer" if you ask me. Very well, let's see if some of my questions there can qualify for you to ask since I know the dev teams there don't have much time to answer as much as they can.

1. Will our boxart return back to the classic "Soldier's Head" design as it should be?

2. Will the gameplay environment to be like back in C&C3 or will it become very dark like in Firestorm (Filled with Tiberium flora & fauna, veinhole monsters, Tiberian floaters & fiends, etc..)

3. Are we going to expect more CGIs? CGIs which are many like Westwood did in the past.

- Eg : Each mission you start & end will show a CGI, and even showing a defeat CGI if you fail the mission.

4. Will John Cena come in to act? Don't worry, he's not a big Hollywood icon. He can play as your typical GDI commando.

Rather not give you too much, that's all for now.

Are we going to see more use of EVA in mission briefings?

Are they going to use more Cabal-like voice for Nod's EVA?

Is Command & Conquer 4 going to be an online download exclusive (Uprising) or comes in traditional hard copies, or both?

What do the developers visit (excluding Apoc, 2poc) CNCNZ site and forums? XD

Here are my questions:

Would there still be competitive 1v1 for C&C 4 while it's mainly being designed for 5v5?

Adding secondary abilities for every unit in RA3 was a big win (encouraging unit micromanagement, less spammy games, etc.), can we expect to see something similar in C&C 4?

1. Will our boxart return back to the classic "Soldier's Head" design as it should be?

I doubt they wan't to answer any further of your questions if you say that last part :)

My questions:

  • Will there also be good replay value for players that maybe don't wan't to do "RPG-like" earnings?
  • Will we see any kind of biological alien life in the game?
  • Will the forgotten play a bigger role in-game than they did in C&C3, or will it still play as a "strategical point" in the maps?
  • What kind of things can we look forward to in the special edition copies?
  • Will the battles be fought other places than earth? :)

That's all I can come up with for now. Oh.. and remember to take some cool pictures and videos! :D

Hey hey acid demon, I tell you, the Westwood's "Soldier's Head" design isn't creating any problems, if it doesn't, WHY replace it? And EA did replace it, so that means it MUST be restored! Screw the X design & RA3-style designs, most of all, SCRATCH AWAY the infamous copy & paste! Westwood NEVER copies & pastes concept arts to create as a boxart, they're treated as complete separate artworks!

It should go back like the way it was supposed to be, Generals broke the tradition, and due to high demands and numerous complaints that C&C isn't C&C, EA was forced to bring back the iconic MCV, sidebar, etc.. So for this case, since C&C4 is the finale, the Soldier's Head must be placed back so that people can finally remember and honor the end of the Tiberium universe. If that Soldier's Head doesn't come back, do you think the fans will honor EA in return, I 100% don't think so, especially the hardcore Westwoodians will feel the insult when a non-Soldier's Head design is placed on the Tiberium universe finale. AND the insult will get even more intense if the arts department people utilizes copy & paste!

Just a pathetic little box or not, we still got to honor and say goodbye to a good universe. It's just like you end with a bang, if you were the marketing team (Who draws the box), do you want to end it with the biggest bang (Soldier's Head) or just end it with the smallest puff of wind (Non-Soldier's Head)? If I were them, I prefer to end it with the biggest bang.

Here's my questions:

Has the new economy system been finalized, and are there going to be any form of classic Tiberium Harvesting?

Can the defensive class build any form of classic buildings? Such as the Temple of Nod or the Hand of Nod?

If this is the final game in the C&C series, then why is the campaign's overall time so short? (Apparently 12-15 hours)

Will the Intel Database make a return?

Any plans for an offline mode of any sort?

And just as a fun one:

Why won't they just admit that the online all the time thing is an attempt to stop pirating

:)

They already completely announced that C&C4 will be the LAST of the Tiberium series, I hate to see that come to a close to, but everything has to come to a stop, Joe cannot act forever too you know, he can play as the never-age Messiah but he lives like us human beings. :(

For the offline part, I highly doubt they'll answer it back to us nicely, because since Big Mike announced that the game is purely online like an MMO, many of us felt the insult so hard (I'm pretty sure the official C&C forum also will) that it even boils our mind including mine. So I fear there won't be an offline mode, but still, piracy will still rule, it's not just like a part of the way of life, they make money too. It's also an evil business like our drug cartels & including the past Pablo Escobar's business, they earn money too.

Hey hey thorn of silver, I din't say that the "Soldier's Head" design isn't the way it should be. I totally agree on that. I just doubt you are going to get a good answer if you end the question on: "As it should be."

My question pertained to why is the "Epic conclusion of the C&C series" so short, not if it really is the end :)

Prolly shoulda worded it better lol

Well Trooper, I'm not sure how long the story will be, if it's too short, I'm sure we will complain, but right now I don't have enough ideas or evidence to claim the story is too short until further details are acquired.

Well Acid, I'm pretty sure Koen will revise the question so that "As it should be" will be removed, he will not say that or the dev team will just say no and it's game over, we're suffering with their non-Soldier's Head and it'll get a lot worse with their copy & paste. So it's best that Koen ask the question about that without the "As it should be", and when the dev team feels like saying no, Koen will respond back the "As it should be" with "Westwood drew something like that, you can't just draw it your way like you did with C&C3 & RA3, you have to fulfill the fans' demans." Just like that when Koen may respond, although I'm not sure if he supports Westwood and ever understands along side them, but we be sure we get something answered from him.

After all, C&C4 is the last, and we must have something to remember it. For me, I kept my original Westwood's Soldier's Head boxes on my shelf as a memory to Westwood after its death. Unfortunately, C&C3 & RA3 are NOT on my shelf because it's NOT the Soldier's Head & they're copy & paste, they don't match, so I can't put them on my shelf. So it's best that C&C4 is the Soldier's Head, AND the boxart must be drawn from scratch without copying & pasting concept arts. If they use copy & paste while retains the Soldier's Head, I will NOT keep that box on my shelf either, I'll just leave it in my drawer or just throw it away while keep the disc.

Are Visceroids gonna return at all?

I thought C&C3 has that based on this picture viseroids.jpg . But since it's C&C4, I'm not sure if those Tiberian creatures will return, Visceroids are nothing to me, the Tiberian Fiends are the real threats I'm scared of.

I've collected some questions from this thread. One question I'm probably not going to ask myself, is the one about the offline mode. They said you have to be online, and perhaps for the singleplayer they will allow you to play offline as well. I'm sure everybody else will be all over this, and have nothing original to contribute to that discussion. It's not going to stop piracy anyway (surely someone will hack the online requirement anyway), so it really is for the persistent player profiles. Having some kind of "achievements" which can be seen online will be pretty cool.

I was disappointed by C&C3's visceroids. Why do they suddenly grow three pseudopods (false feet)?

They should look something like Koen's avatar.

But then again it seem the devs put it back for the sake of the fans requests, not by their own initiative.

With Tiberium's eradication makes me worry if I'll see them again.

No, Mal, it's the other way round, the devs create that Visceroid with false feet is more like their own style, fan demands is more like Koen's avatar. Don't get me wrong, I know they act as themselves, not they act as Westwood. If Westwood controls the franchise and creates a better C&C3, their Visceroids will stay like Tiberian Sun's, NOT like EA's C&C3.

Except my Avatar isn't a Visceroid at all. It comes from a Metroid game. But it does have the nice jelly properties of a visceroid.
