Tyberon 0 Posted October 22, 2009 I'm one of the few people that does not like what EA did to Red Alert 3 and I've put an idea on the table to make Red Alert 3 into something what some old school Red Alert players may enjoy or agree with. Humor me and hear me out on this because this is what mod communities are for right? I need to be pointed in the right direction to get this mod off the ground. I'll go over on what I don't like about Red Alert 3. First of all the graphics. It is waaay too cartoonish for my liking and the units, especially the vehicles look like toys. Second the storyline is all screwed up, they killed Einstien. Einsiten of all people! The man who started it all! Third EA emphasized too much on sex appeal than just substance in the cutscenes. Seriously anymore then EA ought to put naked porn stars during the briefings. While it is nice to look at but I think it took away too much from the game. Lastly I was disappointed to see some old favorites go like Prism tank and the giant squid. Also I really hope I get support on this because the other sites such as CNCDEN are a bunch of useless dunderheads that give me false information and rather talk about some crap that has nothing to do with the topic. And the admins wonder why I left their so called great community. What a joke. Now to my questions. I need to know the best way to change the graphics on Red Alert 3 from the shiny cartoonish looks to a slightly more realistic, grittier look because these are warmacines not discount toys from toys'rus. Is there a way to completely do away with the Empire faction? I know some of you are going to hammer me about this but in this mod I want it strictly Allies on Soviets like the good old days. What is the best software to use to make completely new units from the ground up? How can I extract old sound files from Red Alert 2? And the big question is how can I restore the old ore fields like in Red Alert 2? I can debate on and on about the current economic system used in Red Alert 3 but humor me. Is it possible to bring back the ore fields or is it hardcoded where I have to use ore mines? I really like some serious suggestions and answers to this. Share this post Link to post
PurpleGaga27 37 Posted October 22, 2009 It's not easy remaking the graphics in RA3 to its true form unless you have a production and designer team to do this. Also, the coding is even harder to modify. Best software? There's no best software I would like RA3 graphics be turned to the Unreal SAGE (the combination of the Unreal engine and the upgraded SAGE) Share this post Link to post
Tyberon 0 Posted October 22, 2009 But it is possible? There's me and three other people helping me with this we just need to know how to go about this and we're trying to find a reliable source of support like from forums which is my job and so far the idiots at CNCDEN and Project Perfect aren't helping me or in bed with EA and refuse to give me anything concerete as far information goes. We've considered doing this with the Tiberium Wars engine since it is the style of graphics we are looking for but we weren't sure if it can support a navy as seen in the Red Alert series. Also I like that Unreal SAGE idea of yours. Share this post Link to post
Mr X 0 Posted October 25, 2009 If you're asking these questions, the project is too large for you to undertake. I'm sorry, but it's true. Share this post Link to post
Tyberon 0 Posted October 26, 2009 I'm asking because I'm not a professional modder like some of you are and I'm not doing this alone so we're going to try to take it on. That is if we can get some advice... Share this post Link to post
Nmenth 289 Posted October 26, 2009 Are any of you experienced in modding? If not, he's right. You need to start small and gradually learn how to do the more advanced stuff. Share this post Link to post
