Mighty BOB! 5 Posted November 15, 2009 From the article: The Americans with Disabilities Act states that, "No individual shall be discriminated against on the basis of disability in the full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, or accommodations of any place of public accommodation by any person who owns, leases (or leases to), or operates a place of public accommodation." That in no way describes video games, it describes public property. Game studios are not public facilities and make no accommodations to the public, therefore their goods and services are not bound by the act. Unless you want to argue that MMOs are public locations since you can interact and socialize with other people in them. My opinion on the matter is that although people with disabilities (audio, visual, motor skills, whatever) are often overlooked, I think a lawsuit is a little ridiculous; especially the part where he's supposedly losing money from not participating in the game's auction house. Although I've heard about sound-only games for the completely blind where every event had specific audio cues. I was interviewed about this once on the show floor at the Game Developers Conference. I think I still have the guy's business card somewhere. He represented a sort of lobby group for disabled gamers (although lobby isn't exactly the word I'm looking for since I tend to associate lobbies with corruption in Washington). comander starlin 6 Posted December 10, 2009 this guy has a good point, if you are a visually impaired gamer ( well first of all Gaming??????) they should have a option in the game for some sort of audio enhancement like a mild beeping or something, but if WoW can do it then it should ba a cake walk for Sony...... oh wait give it 10 years we might see a trailer for it at e3 and never see it again. but hay the Wii does it for most games with the Wiimote. you can tell the way things are moving with that thing it is dam crazy!
