Bioware's Mass Effect 2 gets an epic cast!

Recommended Posts

Soon to be released within more than a month, Mass Effect 2 recently has a video of the recent epic cast being into the game. And it's even better than the cast of StarCraft II, RA3 and even C&C3!! This just don't get better than this.

I blame EA for this travesty of justice. You know what is better than big name stars? An extra 30 minutes of gameplay.

I hope this game is longer that Mass Effect. It would be awesome if they could make it the length of Dragon age, but of course with all the dialog being actually spoken, that ain't gonna happen. But a happy medium would suffice. ^_^ Like say between 30 - 40 hours! Instead of 10 or 15 if you stretch it...

I wish this cast of Mass Effect 2 is the cast of C&C4 plus Joe Kucan and Daniel Kucan (Joe's brother), and that would have been the best cast in C&C so far.

How about no. Celebrities are unnecessary, and at least in my opinion, unwanted. Although seeing a familiar face in your game is sometimes interesting, more often than not, I'd prefer seeing people I don't know. In the case of voice casting, I don't know why they'd go for big names (or at least bigger than average), you can find good voice actors out there and they don't cost as much if nobody has any idea who they are. I think the only reason why they hand out the money for the big names is because they think the interest they will generate from advertising them via video posted above will pay off in the long run, but I'd still prefer a nobody cast, especially in a C&C game (which is not voice casting).

Well I guess for the impact it has on new players... like me.

The strategy worked for me.

(Although I agree that in all cases, decent b-grade actors is better with budget spent elsewhere on improving actual gameplay.)

To be fair those celebs roles are akin to a cameo in a movie. The main role, Sheppard both male and female are voiced by well known game voice over actors, which is as it should be.

If you want to see exactly what it costs to have fancy actors involved in a game, just compare Mass Effect 2 with Dragon Age Origins. DA is twice as long as Mass Effect 2 will be.

Watched the video a few days ago and the cast is indeed quit a stand up group of personalities, but really the only thing I care about is if the same characters have the same voice actors/actresses as the first game, ala Joker, Captain Anderson, et all. Nothing is more jarring than to suddenly have a different person voicing a recurring character.

Is it January 26th yet!?!?!!!

You should see celebrities in a game if it's based on a movie, or television show. Otherwise, save the goddamn money on paying those turds and throw more money at the people who make the game.

First thing on my list of things to do in Mass Effect 2, slaughter every Cerberus operative I can find. Starting with little Miss Perfect woman! ^_^
