SCI- FI News - Discussion Topic

Hay guys we are mid season for some shows and at the end of the season for others so what do you guys thing of how this gave been going in the world of sci-fi?

Well at the end of the season of SGU i think it has been good and i am glad it has just been picked up for a second season. and i look forward to see where they take it form here.

Jericho - now who remembers this epic, well in the news, we have now got a comic, of 6 issues and issue 1 is now out, so if you want to see how the 3rd season would play out, this is your well eared answer. and if you would much rather wait for the complete graphic novel then it is due after January, that is the current news so far.

Eureka - has had a change in the number of episodes it will get in season 4 to a total of 22, instead of 13. and this should start up in Q2 of next year.

Warehouse 13 - as you guys know Warehouse 13 got renewed so this should be another summer schedule release again, which worked well for the show.

Caprica - now this show really showed us what it was like with it's 2 hour pilot, and dam it looked hot. not to mention the orgy of blood sex and just dam cool city connection to battlestar Galatica now this show is due to start up on SyFy on January 22nd in the united states, and beamed to all our computers that very same day :P

so that is the show to look forward to next month.

V - well to me i don't really like this show, in fact i didn't like the original. but anyway V is on a break and will be back in 99 days, an interesting fact about the show is it pilot episode was viewed by 14.30 million viewers and as of episode 4 it has been taking a steady decline to 9.20 million viewers, so the fate relies on if it can keep its rating up. on when it comes back from it's break.

Dollhouse - well it has been an interesting journey Joss Whedon's show form being canceled to brought back and canceled again, it was to me a watchable show but it lacked that depth it needed, and just didn't appeal to a wider audience that it needed to stay afloat. so 3 more episode till the end, and lets hope Joss pull another sci-fi out of no where but make it like Firefly as that is what i consider a great mirage of show Space western.

As being mid season and Christmas we wont see much in the Sci-Fi news till early January, so the next update wont happen to then, Merry Christmas, and live long and prosper.

this is a follow on of my old topic Worlds Best Sci-Fi

SGU - A blot on the Stargate franchise. A blot the size of the Pacific, and the smell of a septic tank.

Jericho - Sucked after the first episode, which really only had one high point (guess what).

Eureka - Never watched it.

Warehouse 13 - Started watching it, got bored, stopped.

Caprica - Never even heard of it.

V - Never watched it.

Dollhouse - Fits in with Joss' tradition of getting his shows canceled, but this time it was kind of understandable. This show wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either.

love the positive comments

What can I say, sci-fi isn't on an upward swing right now.

I may have been a little hard on them though, I should add some clarification.

I still watch SGU, hoping it will improve, so I haven't given up on it completely yet.

I did not hate Warehouse 13, it was just too boring for me.

I also watch Dollhouse and would continue to do so if it had not been canceled, it's just not Joss' best work.

...Looked up Caprica, saw that it was related to BSG, immediately lost interest.

Second that. I'll continue watching this for the sake of the franchise.

don't knock caprica before you watch it, you would enjoy it, it really sets a new bar for a Sci-Fi, blood explosions it is not set in space, and it is also regarding the birth of the cylons. it is really good and i wasnt a fan of the remake of BSG i am a fan of the original.

SCI- FI News

30/12/09

Well small amount of news this week, regarding Sci-Fi. i cover a review of a mini series, and a interesting new news in Caprica, and Warehouse 13.

Well lets start with the news.

Caprica - well yesterday SyFy announced that they will be screening the pilot on their website for free, the 2 hour epic will be shown early for people to become accustom to the new show and get a understanding on the direction on where they will be going with it. now from what i have understood this is preview is only available in countries that have access to SyFy as a channel. (NZ misses out, dam zoning even on the web!) but i really recommend every one to check this title out, it is well worth the watch.

Doctor who - well yesterday we had the Doctor Who Christmas special The End of Time personally i am not a Doctor Who fan but i watched it for you guys. in a brief summery, this is the final episode with the tenth Doctor, it was typical of a Who ending but still a good watch, and if you want to see the end of a good run I fully recommend it.

Defying Gravity - well the series has now ended, it is a shame this show ended before its time but that is the way TV in the USA works, it just couldn't compete against for votes on the ABC network, it would have been better suited on another network, like SyFy or a channel network like that. so like tradition Ron Livingston has been put in a show that is good and it just dies due to mismanagement of network time. but if you get the chance to watch it will be available on dvd late January.

Family Guy - well Something Something Darkside is now out, and as you should know it is the next in the series of Family Guy remakes of the Star Wars Saga, The Empire Strikes Back. this is a really good parody and has some real classic moments, and score a 9/10 for me and is well worth the buy. as i have now watched this way to many times i will not spoil the show but it makes a great watch, and gives us a small trailer for the next one in the series. so there is some real value in this title. and there is even a nod in the episode to a great sci-fi animation.

Tron Legacy - the movie now has a date up for December the 17th 2010, this title is looking killer, and for any old tron fans i would well recommend this when it comes out, i will give updates on this titles as they become available.

Review

My review for the week is the latest mini series that SyFy released this month.

Alice – wow where do I start. This was so... um.... well... this mini movie was different, it was superpose to be compared to the mini movie Tin Man which I can say was great, but back to Alice. It was a nice re-imagining and I enjoyed it. It was set in the events after the original story, and you will soon spot a familiar face, with more to follow. One for the best stars in this is Tim Curry, his performance is always grade A. As a 2 part mini series,it is a good adventure but you will soon get annoyed with Alice, but if you stomach her performance you will have a good watch. There is one thing in the movie that pissed me off and showed how dumb writers are, Alice at the very start of part 1 says something about her farther and being in a town in New Zealand called kokatahi, which isn't even close to the Maori language. If you are going to make up a name in a country say a name in English, that way you are less likely look like fools. My over all rating is 7/10 worth the watch but if you really want to watch an Alice movie wait till may 2010 for Alice – the Tim Burton Version.

Bonus Review

Avatar - well I have now seen this movie and I began a big skeptic, and I was presently surprised. My viewing choice was the 2-D standard edition, and I am glad I chose this version because I would have got motion sickness, but over this small insight I enjoyed the artistic side of the movie, and I am glad Mr Cameron just put it in a draw and forgot about it, because the movie wouldn't have had its moment in the sun in the 90's. The story is a 9/10 believable and heartfelt. The visual side of it is a 10/10, you can get lost in this world, and you fell like you are lost in the movie. In all I rate this one for the best movies this year. So I recommend to definitely watch this movie as you will enjoy it a lot.

Well that is diffinitely the last post for the year 2009 see you in 2010.

Enjoy

I used to like Doctor Who and Torchwood, but Doctor Who has this really annoying self righteous angle in nearly every episode. As for Torchwood it started getting a bit too gay for my liking, literally. :P haha

I've resisted getting a Blu-Ray player up until now because I haven't seen the need for one, and haven't been compelled to get one, or desired one for that matter, but I might have to get one now just for Avatar.
