Command & Conquer: The Motion Comic Debuts

Recommended Posts

I guess I just don't like the style as my main gripe. I like this quote from Comics Worth Reading:

When you add camera tricks and a soundtrack to a comic, is it still a comic? Or just a poor excuse for a cartoon, done on the cheap?

Oh I dunno. I think semi-animation like say, Aqua Teen Hunger Force is a borderline cartoon. Since this has less animation than that, I would say you just call it a motion comic. It's not either of the things that this Johanna person is trying to categorize it as.

The audio, both the music and voices, was very good. The illustrations themselves however were uninspired and really disappointing, ugly even, in fact I'm sure that I've seen far better amateur fan-art.

They did a small series of Comics like these for Uncharted 2. As much as I enjoyed those, this is actually better.

Canon aside (cos I really cannot be bothered with arguing on it), it is a pretty good pilot/first episode. It gives some justification as to why the game is like it is from a story standpoint, and stands up rather well on its own.

The only gripe I would perhaps have is that it tried to pack in a little too much, too quickly. I think it could of been a little deeper, and add a little more main character development. Although I am guessing that this main Character is the guy you play within the game. So if that is indeed true, perhaps that's all we really need to know.

But still, it was a good length, and rather well done. People throughout the years have been wishing for a C&C movie. As you know, the community will never get it. So take this as a good thing, cos it's as close as it's gonna get.
