Sonic 296 Posted April 27, 2010 End of Nations, an MMORTS game from Petroglyph has been revealed. Not sure what to make of it really but the overall theme sounds pretty damn cool. Here's some videos. End of Nations Unveil Trailer End of Nations Official Trailer End of Nations Developer Diary #1 End of Nations MMORTS Unveiled! Posted Apr 26, 2010 After months of anticipation on exactly what our MMORTS is all about, or even what "MMORTS" really means, 'End of Nations' is unveiled today! After more than four years of toil, Trion Worlds is raising the curtain today on three major online games that collectively represent one of the most daring bets in video game history. Many established game companies struggle to make just one massively multiplayer online game at a time. But this startup has raised more than $100 million and hired a team of 250 people across three studios so that it can produce big games in parallel. The three PC-based titles are Rift: Planes of Telara; End of Nations, real-time military strategy game set in the near future; and an unnamed title that Trion Worlds is jointly producing with NBC’s SyFy Channel. The first two are hitting in 2011, while the third is sometime later than the first two. To read the rest of the unveiling and learn more about End of Nations, click here. Luk3us 63 Posted April 27, 2010 Yeah I saw the trailer early today. I'm not sure what to think atm. I'm kinda indifferent really, maybe due to Petro's previous games I guess. Share this post Link to post
PurpleGaga27 40 Posted April 27, 2010 There's something missing, Sonic. You didn't mention about a new C&C term called "co-operate & conquer" as short for "Coop & Conquer". Some people caught that term while reading the tabloids. And worse of all, despite the gambling effect from Trion and Petroglyph they want people to pay a monthly subscription fee online to play both SP and MP even when connected to the Internet. Oh, the humanity..... Online PC gaming is on the rise and regular PC gaming is dying. At least it defines MMORTS. But why include SP in this MMORTS game anyway, it doesn't make any sense. Maybe perhaps now some people will call this game a preview to Generals 2 or maybe just simply this would have been the Generals 2 game anyway since I liked the content there. Sonic 296 Posted April 27, 2010 I never picked up on the "C&C" thing, probably because I didn't think it was that important. Share this post Link to post
Inferno 22 Posted April 27, 2010 After seeing the videos, I gotta say I'm extremely excited. You can actually see the massive amount of work that went into everything, while keeping things basic at the same time. And of course, it being an MMO, they have the resources to do so. The drawback is, of course, the montly fee I can't wait to see how this turns out Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted April 27, 2010 Hmmm, won't be grabbing this one when available. Early days yet, but it looks like a low budget generic RTS mod for C&C 4 with extended Multiplayer capability. Graphically poor from the outset, looks like Dark Reign 2 which was out 11 years ago! As for the trailer, it doesn't even attempt to tease you. Let's be honest, you can't push this Genre and its sub-genres any further. While the architecture behind the scenes might be something to be proud of, the game certainly will not. Sonic 296 Posted April 28, 2010 Universe at War promised so much but delivered so little and bombed big time so while this new game looks interesting it won't be getting my hard earned dollars because I feel history will repeat itself with this game. And like Inferno mention, the monthly fee kind of well sucks. But you never know I could be wrong and they could be on a winner here. I hate to say it but Petroglyph haven't really nailed a true bang on hit game yet. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted April 28, 2010 Graphically poor from the outset, looks like Dark Reign 2 which was out 11 years ago! As for the trailer, it doesn't even attempt to tease you. If it's online only, reducing the amount of server data being transferred back and forth is a good thing. The graphics are at least passable and it will attempt to pull in more people who don't have the sup0r aw3s0m3 gam0r rig. Because, quite frankly, specs are what's murdering PC gaming along with the crazy DRMs. Share this post Link to post
Guest Stevie_K Posted April 28, 2010 I look forward to try this game. It really looks promising. Yes it's not very nice graphics, but it sounds like it's going to make up for that big time. Share this post Link to post
