m666 0 Posted May 7, 2010 What makes a mod stand out to you? Hordes of additions? Flashy new graphics? I'm developing two mods, hopefully one of which will be released soon. (Fen will know which one is almost done) However, before I stop taking suggestions and finalize anything I'm looking for some things that make a mod stand out to you. I'm open to every possible suggestion. Game modes, concepts for the gameplay, maps, even unit ideas. Hell, I'll even take the ideas you'll think of as impossible. Share this post Link to post
recover 2 Posted May 7, 2010 First of all, a mod has to be well designed and fun, just like a regular game. An important thing with mods is that they should be easy to get up and running. APB did this pretty good. Secondly, there has to be a community. If no one plays the game online (assuming the mod is multiplayer), then it's pretty pointless. One problem with APB is that there are almost only US servers, so it's a pain trying to have fun there. The ping ruins it. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted May 8, 2010 Secondly, there has to be a community. If no one plays the game online (assuming the mod is multiplayer), then it's pretty pointless. More important towards FPS-based mods rather than RTS since RTS has a better offline mode. Most of the time, we modify the AI to be more aggressive to add another layer of difficulty to skirmish games so at least those aren't quite as boring or stale. Share this post Link to post
