Fallout - New Vegas

Recommended Posts

So, I'm 29 hours in, and I'm still nowhere near the end yet, fun game. Though can't say I like the hardcore mode, its well, ****, I don't know how I can go an entire week (game time) with out sleeping and that's meant to be normal. :P

Oh and the NCR can kiss my ass. ^_^

I have about 16 hours into the game. I'll be trying hardcore mode after this play, but that pretty much means you always have to carry like 5 doctor's bags doesn't it :P

(never thought of that before but a speed mod would greatly improve both NV and 3)

From what my friends say, the hardcore mode is the only way that NV actually becomes challenging enough.

I like hardcore mode, it actually gives you a reason to pick up food items and eat them. Doctor's bags aren't that big of a deal either, I mean I don't break many bones anyway.

The only thing about hardcore mode that annoys me is that you can't do loot everything you see, as you have a weight limit and with a decent amount of ammo, you don't have much left over for 15 pieces of armour and 20 guns to sell at the nearest gun runner. Unless you get that over burden perk, which seems a waste imo.

Biggest annoyance is you can only have one humanoid companion at any time! (Mods fix that.) Veronica is funny to watch when she has a Ballistic fist, and Boone with a sniper rifle means I don't have to shoot anyone. :P

Try going against deathclaws at level 10 :P

I have now completed Fallout New Vegas. I didn't do all the quests, and after glancing at the Fallout Wiki it seems I barely did 60%. :o

Anyway, my ending was pretty cool. A lot more satisfying than in Fallout 3. :)

I'll just stick to normal thanks. I have one question though: why is there no SPRINT?

You already run faster base than FO3 from what I've noticed, and with light gear and your weapon away you can go pretty fast. However, PC gamers can download a mod that lets you use your AP to sprint, which is a pretty nice tradeoff if you don't use it for VATS. You can also get one that lets you engage bullet-time instead-- basically free-aim VATS mode, with no damage reduction. Take a look and see if those suit your play style.

New Vegas with hardcore mode is what Fallout 3 should have been, I'm loving this game. Feels a lot more like the first two in every wonderful way. Deathclaws at level 10, when you will probably find them, will murder you in about two hits. Three if you're lucky.

I'd suggest taking Strong Back for +50 carry weight, I usually grab that in all the games. You can load up the robot companion and your human NPC both with goods, plus don't neglect your Mojave Express containers! You can pretty much stick items in "limbo" and pick them up anywhere, just by visiting a town you've been to. I usually send all my campfire-crafting stuff out to Primm then read a Lad's Life and get cracking once I return from an adventure :)
