A First Look at Red Alter Mod

Red Alter is a new mod for C&C3: Tiberium Wars. The Red Alter team wants to take on a more realistic approach to Red Alert 3. Less "cartoony" and set in an alternative history of WWII and the Cold War.

 

We're not going to remake old games in the series Red Alert. We want to create a new level of modification based on the beloved series. On the battlefields in the struggle for supremacy in the world will converge strongest superpower of the world - the mighty Soviet Union, a cunning Alliance, and a sinister third faction.

Here's a first look at some of the in game screen shots. See if you can recognise some of the units.

Wait, wasn't RA always more "cartoony" than the main C&C franchise? Wasn't that the point of making a parallel C&C Universe?

The first Red Alert didn't seem cartoony at all to me. Never liked the cartoony style either, so this mod is one I'm going to follow.

It seems you forgot Stalin, the Russian "achhhnowledged" and the total ambiance of the game which is more "relaxed" than Tiberian Dawn.

I forgot nothing. Back when Red Alert was released, I didn't see it as more or less relaxed or aggressive than Tiberian Dawn.

 

After Red Alert 2 was released however, It was clear that in comparison to the dark and apocalyptic Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 2 is kind of childish in it's appearance.

 

Sorry for using such a strong word, Red Alert 2 is still a fantastic game.

Its a mod, its not meant of follow C&C cannon or anything. Its whatever the team making it wants it to be.

 

After Westwood made C&C, Red Alert was made as a "what if" game. But its still very much serious apart from its strange twist on technology. The less serious approach, the humour, campiness..... that didn't arrive until the team at Westwood Pacific (later EA Pacific) made Red Alert 2, changed the story, messed things up and well the rest is history.
