I now feel even better about completely banning television six months ago when I moved out.

 

I did this after reading a grand survey about life that concluded that the average western human spends about 8 years of their life watching television.

Then it struck me how much of that is actually commercials, nonsense reality shows and other low budget waste of life programs.

 

I decided that I want to spend those years living life and save a lot of money instead. Besides, if I wan't to get news, the internet delivers it even faster and without BS.

 

At this point I haven't missed watching tv one bit. I can really recommend it.

Hrmf.. Since I'm a user of the internet pretty much since it came to life, I am very aware of this, and I'm confident that I'm not the only one who can tell the difference between BS and reliable content.

As Inferno says, the freedom of choice is indeed more present on the internet.

 

There's a whole lot more to this discussion than that, but I'll spare you for an essay.
