TD week, RA week , TS week ...

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Actually, I don't know the proper english word for this, but the suggestion is quite simple. The idea is to have a digital fair where the "money" is some kind of novelty to show off.

Let me list some features first:

- CNCNZ.com is "divided" in Sub-universe of games, related to Command and Conquer

- In paralel, our activities in the community are also distributed from routine things to special announcements

- In interactive terms, we are both beneficiaries, supporters and producers of these games.

Having all that in mind, we could have a "MONTH" or "WEEK" agenda like the TD week, the RA week and so on. It doesn't have to be 7 or 30 days, but it would be a restart point in time.

What must be said is that the will of the entire supporters of the community won't be affected. If you don't wanna follow the schedule you will choose as you have been choosing any topic.

What will change is: the mapmakers and related friends and critics will prepare something for that specific time of the year.

The idea is to increase a bit the interactions and "datamining" according to interest and time:

+ With a stablished FOCUS point, players will play more on the related game (or the will get back to play it) in that time of the year,

+ mapmakers will revise their ateliers, clean the dust and bring some map while others will hurry up to finish in time their main project,

and so on ...

And a last comment, in our profile we would "subscribe" to that CNCNZ week of preference.

Not only a suggestion, it is a kind of feedback: if adopted, the things doesn't have to roll out exactly as described. I just created examples around the concepts.

Astonishing suggestion, Solo! That could bring life to these forums. If Sonic accepts, I'm in! :thumbsup:

If you could expand on your suggestions and ideas I could possibly entertain the idea of moving forward with them. I'm not entirely sure what your hoping to achieve here.

"Expand" it is ...

Well, I'm too limited to think about RA, TS and others, since I'm just a CnC95 enthusiast (so far). But what I can think about one game can be applied to others.

As I said these weeks are a promotional thing, so, a priori, not a fundamentally different thing. When I say "promotional" I mean evangelize or spread the word, a breath of motivation.

My experience is based in academic events of publishing papers. It would be the same "frame" or construct, but for the internet format, i.e. less formal.

I agree that the forums seems to need more life, but I always compare the replies of the subjects and the views so it seems actually that the audience is higher "than meets the eye" but doesn't show up (write) as often as they could.

Taking TD as a basis:

- Since the event resembles a convention, we gotta have a known supporter to lead the innitiative. This supporter must "know" a lot of players and mapmakers through out CNCNZ.com as long as he/she can ask for different opinions, favors or roles in the event;

- We would need a MAJOR calendar that shows all the events in a year and for a first year I would simply distribute date according to the age of the game. With more experience on this, it might be changed. Some games would need 2 weeks in a year and others would be gather to form a week depending on the normal interaction of those foruns;

We would need a CALL month prior to the event to see how many interested would apply in which part of the program

- We would need a MINOR calendar, which is the PROGRAM of the week;

- For CnC95, with the current knowledge I got, which is limited, I would do the following activities, and I'll MAKE UP these activities just to give an idea of interaction:

D1

CHALLENGE - 03 players/mapmakers would have to create a SP mission, a small one like 35x35. It must be created 2 or 3 factions combating each other and the human player would have only a mini-gunner or grenadier to see how it could survives and win the mission. The map could be given. For the mapmakers here is to give them room to make something quick to setup, as long as we usually have a lot of things (projects) to do already in our games. For the players are quick to play in one day and debate during the rest of the week. Of course, the focus of the debates would be the surprises and the trigger/teamtypes programming. We would need an opening date to publish the missions and a closure date, where the leader invite a guest to make the final comments on the 3 games. The challenge is not to be the best, but to deliver something playable according to capabilities.

D2

WORKSHOP - for example, CnC95 teamtypes has a lot of parameters not totally unknown, (funcionality and number range). Interested in these limitation could apply prior to the event and study a small portion of it and during the event, together with other "students", the debate might give us a light on these limitations

D3

MINOR AND MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENTS - mapmakers would launch their novelties, nem missions, new weapons, etc. Others that don't have anything ready could to tell us also the number of the projects engaged even the most remote and dust ones.

An statistic more based in the "wish" than the "will" of the supporters. Something not viable becomes viable when you talk to the right person in the right moment.

D4

OUTLOOK - comments and closure of the event and things to come.

Well there might be more important things to add, but since I'm just expanding the idea, it would be more fun and interesting that more people of the community come to ask what they wish for. Mainly those ones envolved with the other games, because my "expansion" here is excluding a lot of people, although it is not the intention.

Let's fire up the community ehehehehh

D2:

There's already a trigger Research ...

I'm aware of that research.

I can't get in that community 'cause the moderator is sleeping or didn't allow entrance.

And that research didn't reach its goal yet because

it's a stand alone innitiative rather than a coordinated effort, although made by a brilliant, probably busy, mapmaker(s).

Let people enlist and put a due date and more interesting things might arise.
