Minor Problem

I have a minor problem to report about the forums. Some stupid dumbass has registered about 300-400 false user accounts using garbage names like "QeikfmTsk". It won't effect the forums at all but its something I want to clean up ASAP.

 

You will noticed the member count drop back its normal total of around 850 users instead of 1230 or so its currently at.

sad people, there's always some idiot who likes to flood a site with something!! I don't know wha kick they get out of it, and i don't understand it.... but at least it wasn't a total flood of pointless users.... removing them wouldn't be fun....

 

I suppose thinking about it while 've been typing this ... that the only kick people get out of doing things like this is that it causes annoyance to the forums administrators like you sonic..... In some ways these people are worse than virus programmers

It was easy to delete all of the rubbish accounts, I just manually edited the forums database. Basically by passing the forums altogether. The crap part was deleting the 400 or so bounced e-mails from my e-mail account :x

The accounts were not active accounts so I couldn't get any IP addresses to ban. Plus it had to have been some sort of auto-registering program or script that was used to create all the false accounts because the times of the accounts when registered were only seconds apart. No one could be the fast to register them all manually.

 

I will be montoring the forums for strange happenings over the next few days. If anyone notices strange user names be registered please let me or another admin (Phreakly) know.

what an idiot. I agree with C&C King. If you have that type of programming knowledge, go do something useful with it. Or just sit there and be a jackass.
