Unable to set video mode - persisting after patch

I recently installed the patch and tried the change resolution trick, but still no go. Both C&C and RA95 will not run on XP. Any tips or ideas? Am I missing something here??

First check if both TD and RA are in compatibility mode for Win98 (NOT Win95). Then consider patching TD to 1.06c r2 and using cnc-ddraw

uh, cnc-ddraw + compatibility mode = bad idea.

 

Update C&C1 to 1.06 r2 and use cnc-ddraw (read the configuration section) for both.
