Sonic 296 Posted September 18, 2012 I'm a fan of the NBA, the NHL (not as much as past years due to lack of TV coverage here in New Zealand). Why is it that the fans must endure these selfish, petty dramas every few years when they enter Lockouts? It does nothing but destroy their sport, spoil their brand. Both the NBA and NFL had lockouts last year and as we speak the NHL are entering the third day of theirs. During the NBA lockout last year I remember reading a news article about it. The writer called it "Millionaires Versus Billionaires", that summed it for me. It was the players (millionaires) being locked out by the owners (billionaires). I just don't get it. It kills their sports, fans loose interest the longer they go on and it takes months or even years to recover when the lockouts end. Share this post Link to post

PurpleGaga27 40 Posted September 19, 2012 (edited) Well the economy (as of today) is still struggling for most sports organizations. The AFL was one example. The Arena Football Legaue resumed its operations in 2010 after their 2009 cancellation season due to budget issues and some teams folded out of the league. More money may be the thing, but as of now the players in the NFL and the NBA are getting less profit due to their recent contracts with the leagues. Another off-topic, there was a huge reason why the LA Dodgers (of the MLB) was bought for over $2 billion led by a group of investors involving Magic Johnson after the team filed for bankruptcy. After the team made a recent blockbuster trade, it seems that their hopes for the playoffs are fading once again year after year. The love of money is the root of all evil. I read that phrase in an article before. Edited September 19, 2012 by zocom7 Share this post Link to post
Nmenth 291 Posted September 19, 2012 I read that phrase in an article before. It comes from a rather famous book. Share this post Link to post
Plok 327 Posted September 19, 2012 Although I am a bit sorry this all is happening, I still have the KHL and EBEL Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted September 19, 2012 It comes from a rather famous book. Are you sure? I naturally assumed you just came up with it this very moment, you are a rather smart fellow after all. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted September 20, 2012 This is why I don't associate much with sports. These guys make too much as it is then complain when they "don't get enough." Hey, Johnny Mctoolbag, share some of that (not so) hard earned dough with the people who pay your salary. HINT: It's not the owners. Share this post Link to post
Nmenth 291 Posted September 20, 2012 I remember seeing some hidden camera prank show where they were standing outside a stadium asking people to donate to the professional players. I wish I could remember what show it was so I could try to find it on YouTube... Share this post Link to post
