Command & Conquer - Free To Play Russian Video Preview

Recommended Posts

Well, the rumours of lifting the NDA have been proven to be true - a Russian game blogger, Anton Logvinov, has uploaded his three-and-a-half minute long preview of Command & Conquer - Free To Play. Unfortunately, the video is in Russian, but YkudzA of CnCRussia.ru states that there is nothing we're missing out on. Still, it's nice to see everything in real-time motion.

I would expect more of these previews to pop out in the weeks to come.

I actually from Europe, but i know Russian and , most importantly, i know this Russian magazine and this blogger. I actually started buying their magazine sine 2007. And believe me this is a big CnC fan since the 1st game. ANd so to make you understand what he said i will translate it.

-"Hello everyone this is Anton form ALogvinov.com and right now we, just like a year ago, in the offices of EA Nordic-subdivision of Electronic Arts, who makes free-to-play games and the main is Command & Conquer".

-"To get an idea of a new C&C you just need to launch Generals ten years ago, enter the Skirmish mode and that's it. You will see exactly same game, but this time made on the Frostbite 2 engine".

-"We should not expect anything fantastic Frostbite is just an engine, nothing really new, on this current build exactly, he doesn't give to the game, she looks exactly the same, but more high polygonal and that's it, but if you thought, that now in RTS tank will shoot in the building and it just realisticly break like in Battlefield, then no such thing you will see in C&C, here you still shoot in the building and still by specific animations is will shatterб nothing remarkable".

-"In the Engine Frostbite 2 is installed physical engine Havok and his part Havok Damagea are responsible for damage and realistic destruction. They Allow us to count the damage of buildings in that moment we create them. At the fragment of the building, which is being shooted, the openings will appear, the parts will fly around until the building is destroyed. Damage system is sufficiently detailed and parts will fly depending on the direction of the shot, generally it will be more interesting instead of what you usually see in other RTS and all building will blow up same way, but still In FPS(first person shooters) the damage is more detailed, beacuse they are focused on one or several buildings, in our case we talk about 10s and 100s buldings , and that we Given the fact that we strongly took a step relative to the previous C&Cs, you don;t need to wait for the detailing from the FPS".

-"Gameplay changed a little, in the center is still the same idea with generals that you choose either and airforce, tank or some other general you will receive bonuses.Choose one general, you have Air units, support, reconnaissance, choose the second one and he has a great emphasis on tanks and other bonuses".

-"There are two resources the same support and deploy (i actually didn't played Generals musch, and i didn't understood) and oil, at the rest part the game is wildly recognizable: same designs, same principals, same upgrades. Of course there will be new units, but not like it will drastically change something and the music will sound just like from the original, i even asked ans it will stay, even though there will a lot of new music from the same composer, but also all old tracks".

-"In general i don't see any crime in here, considering the fact that the stakes are on multiplayer, but if you waited for some new feelings from the C&C, then you should change your mind"

-"The Good news is it will be and online game, it will always expand and not just in Generals universe, there will be Tiberium universe and Red Alert-wagon of happiness for all, who used to love C&C".

I actually do not know what to think about it. It looks good, some sites are praising it pretty high (German Gamestar for example.). But there is one thing that is bothering me since I've read some articles about it... I'm asking me, because it sounds like the resources (Oil, Supply depot) will be pretty fast empty... if Victory Games is trying to put an indirect Unitlimit (per se on the resourcial way) into the game.

Otherwise... it looks really a lot like Generals. And personally I like it.

Well stuff like resources will be balanced and changed during the beta period. Remember everything you are seeing here is all alpha right now.
